News: Symetal and Elval scored a double-award victory with Quintiq implementations

February 2, 2018 - Greece-based Symetal and Elval of Viohalco S.A. (VIO), a Belgium-based holding company of leading metal processing companies across Europe, celebrated a double victory at two prestigious industry awards recently. Recognition from these long-standing awards (in their 10th and 21st editions respectively) further strengthens the trust that these companies have in Quintiq as their technological partner, a relationship that started with their first solution implementation in 2008.

The first award won is for Quintiq’s slitting optimization solution that earned Symetal top distinction for the Private Sector Excellence Award in the 2017 World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) Global ICT Excellence Awards held in Taipei, Taiwan. The solution’s optimization capability helped Symetal’s slitting operations achieve optimal order combinations and reduce scrap significantly. Quintiq supports Symetal’s strategic re-engineering of its production process to improve delivery performance, reduce production lead time, maximize production volume and reduce inventory.

The second is a trophy for Elval in the manufacturing category of the Logistics & Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2017 held in London, UK. Quintiq’s system covers multiple functions within Elval’s business – from planning, supply chain and sales to production. With flexible and transparent planning of various production flows, such as casting, hot-rolling, cold-rolling and finishing, Elval is able to significantly improve on-time, in-full (OTIF), reduce inventory/cycle times, increase throughput and lower costs. This provided a major boost to Elval’s business competitiveness, allowing Elval to operate in new markets despite its location being one week’s transport time further away from customers than its main European competitors.

These two awards are testament of Quintiq’s end-to-end and multi-horizon planning support capabilities, at the strategic level right down to daily operations.
