News: American Public University System upgrades to new Quintiq scheduling platform

September 29, 2015 - Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that American Public University System (APUS) has upgraded its planning system to the new Quintiq 5 software planning platform.

APUS, one of the leading providers of online education, chose Quintiq in 2012 to more efficiently manage their course scheduling and balancing. Quintiq helped APUS schedule faculty and courses effectively and accurately through predictive analysis of student enrollment in courses. The software enabled APUS to create an end-to-end course scheduling system optimized around its key performance indicators (KPI).

The new version’s improved user interface provides enhanced ease of use, speed, and greater visibility into APUS’s complex data. It also includes interactive KPI dashboards which will enable APUS staff to identify critical information more quickly and easily, thus helping them define and refine plans that optimally advance its goals.

”Partnering with Quintiq has enabled us to shift the workload from our program directors to a cohesive scheduling team, thus allowing us to leverage faculty assets to better meet the needs of our student body”, said Dr. Brian Blodgett, associate vice president of scheduling for APUS.

“The upgrade has significantly improved the efficiency with which we are able to schedule courses and faculty for the entire university,” added APUS Lead Scheduling Coordinator Tammy Sheeder.

Dan Crown, Workforce Business Unit Director for Quintiq, commented “Drawing from our experience across a wide range of industries, we have developed a solution specific to the education industry to help American Public University System further optimize their scheduling workflows and enhance student satisfaction.”
