News: Agrifirm Feed chooses Quintiq for integrated production and logistics planning
August 7, 2014 - Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that Agrifirm Feed, part of the Royal Agrifirm Group, has chosen its software solution to optimize production and logistics scheduling.
The Quintiq software will provide Agrifirm Feed planners with an integrated view of the entire supply chain. Previously, Agrifirm Feed planned production and logistics independently of each other. This meant that the planners faced limited access to parts of the planning process. As a result, planners had reduced visibility throughout the supply chain and limited understanding of the consequences of their planning decisions.
The Quintiq software solution will provide Agrifirm Feed with increased flexibility to quickly adapt to changes in both the production and logistics process. Different optimization parameters can be modified instantly, enabling Agrifirm Feed to quickly respond to new or unexpected scenarios.
Any changes made in the production plan are automatically carried through into the logistics plan and vice versa to show the consequences of changes in planning decisions. For example, if there is a delay in the production of a certain item, the system will automatically adjust the number of vehicles required to load the product, so that that they are not left standing idle.
“Quintiq has a deep understanding of the agricultural industry and the challenges that we face,” said Erik Hoogenboom, Manager Operations at Agrifirm Feed. “We were highly impressed by the solution Quintiq offered because it completely meets our logistics and production planning needs.”
“Agrifirm Feed will, for the first time, have a full view of its production and logistics planning, enabling the organization to transform its business and reap the benefits of increased efficiency,” said Arthur Torsy, vice president EMEA at Quintiq.
