News: Syngenta selects Quintiq to transform its supply chain across EMEA

July 28, 2015 - Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that its software platform has been selected by Syngenta to optimize planning across plants and warehouses in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Syngenta AG is a world leader in agriculture with over 28,000 employees in 90 locations around the world. Its division, Syngenta Seeds is a provider of innovative crop solutions to growers. Among its key activities is processing and blending harvested seeds according to customer demand, and distributing them to the different regions.

The unique seed characteristics and market variables of each crop type means that the planning process is highly intricate. As customer orders and expected yields continued to fluctuate and the amount and diversity of data continued to grow, the planners struggled to create optimal plans that satisfied demand while meeting KPIs such as keeping surplus inventory low, cycle times short and customer satisfaction high. Syngenta Seeds needed a dynamic solution to plan its supply chain planning processes and optimize cross-daily plans across its network of processing sites.

Syngenta selected Quintiq to integrate and provide real-time visibility of planning capabilities across its plants and warehouses. With Quintiq, the planners will be able to accurately calculate the production capacity and materials required to meet customer demand. They will also be able to respond to mid- and long-term changes in forecasts.

Peter Vos, Global Planning Excellence Manager at Syngenta, said: “We endeavor to always provide our customers with good service and we looked to optimize our supply chain planning to continue to achieve customer satisfaction.

“We selected Quintiq for its agility and proven optimization technology to help us solve puzzles within our planning processes. Quintiq can be configured to our needs and will help us capitalize on master data stored in SAP, providing us with a clearer overview of our supply chain. We expect inventories of finished goods, write-offs, transportation costs and lost sales to be reduced, and asset utilization, cycle times, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction to improve.”

“Helping companies cope with increasing complexity to remain efficient and responsive to customer is what we do best, and we are pleased to apply our technology and expertise in support of Syngenta,” said Arjen Heeres, Chief Operating Officer at Quintiq. “During peaks in customer demand, it is essential that companies have a platform that provides real-time solutions to handle unexpected scenarios while helping them save on costs. This is what our technology can do for Syngenta.”
