News: Acciaieria Arvedi selects Quintiq to boost customer service and delivery performance levels
November 12, 2015 - Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimization (SCP&O), announced today that its planning software platform has been selected by Acciaieria Arvedi to boost delivery performance levels for their operations in Italy.
Acciaieria Arvedi, part of the Arvedi Group, is Italy's leading steelmaking and processing company with an annual turnover of €1.5 billion. The Group produces flat rolled steel, hot rolled pickled and galvanized carbon steel coils, welded carbon and stainless steel tubes, and precision stainless steel strip products, with production volumes that reach about 4 million tonnes per year. The Group also owns the patented In-line Strip Production (ISP) and Endless Strip Production (ESP) technologies that improve production efficiency and flexibility in steel manufacturing, allowing the continuous casting and rolling process.
Arvedi wanted to further improve customer service across its entire supply chain. The steel making company sought a solution that was capable of providing maximum visibility into its complex supply chain processes. This would enable better response to orders and improved the coordination of production.
After evaluating several vendors, Arvedi chose the Quintiq planning software platform. Quintiq offers a 100%-fit to the manufacturer's unique production processes. The platform will capture all of Arvedi's supply chain complexities and enable end-to-end visibility to improve their control and coordination of future order flows. Arvedi planners will be able to create optimal plans efficiently and evaluate planning decisions against business KPIs. The Quintiq integrated platform will also simplify communication between the departments, thus reducing the time employees spend on informal communication and increasing the time they spend on effective decision-making.
The Quintiq planning platform will be rolled out in Arvedi's plants in Cremona and Trieste, which focus on special steels (in particular high strength and dual phase) and thin and ultra-thin gauges which can substitute cold rolled products for many applications. With this implementation, Arvedi can look forward to being able to improve customer service levels, reduce operational and logistics costs, and increase the yield of slit coils.
Fabio Baldrighi, CEO at Acciaieria Arvedi said, "After evaluating several providers, we have found Quintiq to be a perfect fit to our requirements and goals. As owners of advanced technology ourselves, we recognize that technology is a vital part of business success. This collaboration underlines our commitment to investing in powerful technologies and partners such as Quintiq to enable us to further increase our competitive edge in the market. We look forward to leveraging Quintiq's flexible solution and vast experience in the metals industry to support us in defining our future projects."
"We are very proud that a major steel company like Arvedi has chosen Quintiq to optimize their planning. This partnership further consolidates our presence in the Italian metals market," said Francois Eijgelshoven, Vice President EMEA at Quintiq. "We are confident that Arvedi will experience significant improvements in customer service and delivery performance."
About the Arvedi Group
The Arvedi Group, with its consolidated industrial tradition and one of the most significant European steelmaking realities, started in 1963 as transformer of primary steel products it subsequently integrated upstream with steel manufacturing.
Thanks to a precise, innovation-oriented group strategy all the companies use the most advanced technologies and their own operating practices. For the steel works, the youngest company of the group, suitably competitive process technologies not being available, original Arvedi technology was studied and developed internally and patented worldwide under the name ISP and ESP.
A highly qualified and competent management guiding a slim and flexible organization guarantees maximum efficiency of production and quality as well as a high level of service with particular attention to market development and requirements.
The choices made regarding technology, ergonomics and the environment allow the Group to operate while fully respecting man and the environment.
