This course is an introduction to performing multiscale and multiphysics simulations in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Multiphysics experiments involve high precision 3D simulations such as mechanical finite element analyses, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) flow simulations, and electromagnetic simulations. You can combine two different physics domains to create a Co simulation such as a fluid structure interaction (FSI) and conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analysis and can also include highly abstracted approximations of real world physical behavior (logical systems usually packaged in the form of a functional mockup unit or FMU).

As wind energy expands globally, noise emissions have become a critical factor for regulatory compliance, public acceptance and operational profitability. This article outlines a high-fidelity, multi-disciplinary framework for predicting and mitigating the two primary types of wind turbine noise: broadband aero-acoustic noise from the blades and tonal vibro-acoustic noise from the drivetrain. We present two integrated simulation workflows that enable engineers to design quieter turbines. The aero-acoustic workflow uses fluid simulation to optimize blade serrations, achieving up to 4 dB of noise reduction in key frequencies. The vibro-acoustic workflow models the entire turbine to trace mechanical vibrations from the gearbox to radiating surfaces, such as the tower, identifying the dominant noise paths. We explain how this holistic approach, supported by secure IP-protected collaboration, helps operators reduce costly power curtailments, accelerate certification and improve community relations.
