Ahmet Becene

Technical Fellow, Collins Aerospace

Ahmet Becene started his career at General Dynamics Corporation as a NVH engineer for the guided missile destroyers division. He moved to the automotive industry, working at General Motors then Delphi Powertrain as a vibration and simulations team lead for more than a decade. In 2010, Ahmet moved to the aerospace industry, and he is currently a Technical Fellow at Collins Aerospace. His responsibilities include solving challenging technical problems for the Structures discipline, methods development, and mentoring.

Ahmet holds a Bachelor of Science from Istanbul Technical University, Master of Science from University of Maine, and PhD from University of Rochester. He has also taught graduate and undergraduate level courses as an adjunct professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Rochester, and Yale University and continues this passion of teaching at Collins University.

Ahmet enjoys designing and building vacuum tube guitar amplifiers, a hobby that allowed him to make friends in Billboard charts, along with restoring vintage European motorcycles and cars in his garage.

Ahmet has been an Abaqus user since 1997. Abaqus has been his tool of choice for solving tough structural and multiphysics problems throughout his career.

Alice Lin > Dassault Systemes

Alice Lin

Simulation Specialist R&D, GN Audio

Alice joined GN Audio in 2014 after graduating from Tsinghua University in 2014 with a master’s degree in solid mechanics. Prior to her studies, Alice had one year’s experience for aircraft design where she used CATIA in her design of airplanes.

Alice has extensive experience with SIMULIA, in particular Abaqus, which started while she was working on her bachelor’s degree. After joining GN Audio as the first CAE engineer, Alice selected SIMULIA as her preferred simulation tool for structure analysis. At GN Audio, the team has continued to grow as simulation has become a necessity by helping to improve product quality, reduce cost and time development.

In her spare time, Alice likes to improve her own technical strength and experience by teaching others and answering questions on the simulation CAE forum called jishulink.

Amitabha Saha > Dassault Systemes

Amitabha Saha

Senior Engineer, Hasetri

Amitabha Saha works as a Senior Engineer at HASETRI (Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer and Tire Research Institute) in the Tyre Mechanics Group. He was instrumental in creating India’s first tyre simulation setup. He has more than 20 years of experience using simulation technology and has trained and developed more than 25 simulation engineers.

Amitabha is responsible for method developments like Frictional Energy pattern for Wear Nature prediction, the inclusion of Tyre Tread Pattern in simulation, Tyre Curing Simulation and the implementation of hyperelasticity and viscoelasticity. Amitabha also works on analysis management and resource optimization as well as the customization of FEA package. The selection of hardware and software and its configuration and implementation are also part of his responsibilities.

Amitabha has more than 15 live projects and more than 10 international and national publications. He holds a First Class degree in Chemical Engineering from NIT, Durgapur. His hobbies include tuning systems for optimized performance and setting up a digital library.

Balaji Kasthurirangan > Dassault Systemes

Balaji Kasthurirangan

Senior Team Leader - Subsystems and Experts Group, Elgi Equipments LTD

Balaji Kasthurirangan has led simulation teams in the R&D center at ELGI, Bangalore since 2011. He currently is working toward the development of next-generation energy/cost-efficient industrial compressors. He has 22 years of work experience including organizations like Delphi and L&T Ltd. Balaji has been using SIMULIA on different product lines such as common rail systems, mounting systems, fuel cells, compressor and lifts since 2003.

Balaji specializes in optimization techniques and has experience with process automation, cost reduction, material characterization and simulation process integration using Isight and Tosca.

During his career, Balaji has presented at SIMULIA events and advocates that the role of a simulation engineer is to drive every initiative with predictions and validations, and this commitment is reflected in his daily work.

Bingyun Jiang > Dassault Systemes

Bingyun Jiang

Simulation Advocate

Bingyun Jiang has a PhD from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. With more than 10 years of experience using Abaqus, Jiang is an active advocate of simulation in the electronics and automotive industry.

Bingyun owns the iCAETube, a public account on WeChat, with about 10,000 followers. More than 50,000 people per year read the SIMULIA articles that Bingyun promotes on ICAETube. At the same time, he has created two CAE groups on WeChat and two QQ groups with more than 2,000 members. Bingyun is a certified SIMULIA technical support specialist and has trained more than 500 students. He has recorded more than 100 hours of instructional videos with more than 30,000 clicks.

Chirag Patel > Dassault Systemes

Chirag Patel

Cae Manager, Ceat Tyres

Chirag Patel has worked in the CAE field for more than 12 years. He has been working with CEAT Ltd. for the last five years and has been responsible for two-wheeler tire to truck tire NVH and dynamic simulations capability development. In his current role, Chirag is involved with new product development, simulation tasks and simulation to test correlation activities.

Previously, Chirag worked at an automotive OEM for 5 years in the NVH domain. Overall, he has expertise in both cabin NVH and Tire NVH. Chirag has used SIMULIA products – mainly Abaqus – for more than eight years, and he loves to simulate physics to study in detail.

Feng Feng > Dassault Systemes

Feng Feng

Technical Fellow, Collins Aerospace

Dr. Feng Feng has more than 20 years of experience in the area of solid and structural mechanics, computational methods and mechanics, transient dynamics, fracture mechanics, and transient thermal stress analysis. He is currently a Technical Fellow at Collins Aerospace, leading structural method and certification tool development and implementation, and serves as the member of Structures Discipline Steering Committee, which sets the company’s roadmap for discipline activities.

Prior to joining Collins Aerospace, Feng was an Advanced Application Developer at Dassault Systèmes SIMULIA Corporation, where he contributed to the development of new algorithms, customizations and provided technical support in general areas of finite element analysis and Abaqus.

Feng holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics. He also has a PhD from the University of California in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in applied Mathematics. His postdoctoral research work focused on three-dimensional computational mechanics of lipid bilayer vesicles and biomembranes.

He has published 12 papers, 2 book chapters and co-authored a paper that won the Best NDE Paper Award from SPIE in 2002. In addition, he also holds 15 patents.

G.S. Krishnamurthy

G.S. Krishnamurthy is working as a Group manager – CAE in Royal Enfield, a unit of Eicher Motors Ltd in Chennai, India. Currently he is working in the field of NVH and Multibody dynamics. He is a postgraduate and has 20 years of experience in the automotive two-wheeler industry using simulation techniques. GSK is responsible for implementing new methods in the areas of MBD, NVH and Systems Modelling. In addition, he is responsible for manufacturing simulation and automation of CAE processes.

He is also PSE (Professional Simulation Engineer) certified by NAFEMS in the area of Finite Element Methods.

As the academic leader of CFD at FAW, Dr. Genghua Liao leads the CFD team to develop the aerodynamic and thermal management performance by PowerFLOW software in several projects. He has made many successful cases.


Genghua has more than 5 years of experience using PowerFLOW software at FAW. During this period, he has completed eight technical problems of ground vehicles, six major technological innovation research projects and is responsible for more than 10 enterprise standards. He is also the member of the SAE-CHINA (China Society of Automotive Engineering) and contributes to the development of aerodynamics in ground vehicles.

Halewijn Stikvoort had a strong desire to make sense of things and started instinctively exploring engineering from an early age, making spare diffs in Danish bricks and kites able to lift him (not advisable). His desire to understand the world continues today. The next logical step for Halewijn was to study Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics), with the idea that a structure does not move without an actuator and a lonesome actuator has nothing to move against.

By describing the physical world in the way of a model, it can be further studied and explored. A good model also accurately predicts the states that were not pre-verified or are even outside the measurement range. In his free time, Halewijn enjoys building his own audio equipment and listens to the beautiful variety of music made in the world.

Huan-Yang Chen > Dassault Systemes

Huan-Yang Chen

At Zebra Technologies, Huan-Yang Chen leads the research, design, and product development of wireless solutions. This includes 5G NR, 4G LTE, 3G CDMA/UMTS, 2G GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS, NFC in enterprise mobile/portable computing devices through the provision of vision, guidance, and management in cross-functional innovations. He also likes to explore cutting-edge technologies and conducting RF/antenna system integration, characterization, and optimization within the target embodiment.

Huan-Yang received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan, along with his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. His primary research interests and expertise are wireless communications, RF front end (RFFE) and antenna design, beamforming and Multiple-In Multiple-Out (MIMO) technology, millimeter Wave (mmWave), EM wave propagation modeling and analysis, electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility.

Hycksu Kweon has worked in the CAE field for more than 18 years. Working with Hyundai Mobis, he leads the research, design and product development of EMI solutions. He is also an iNARTE EMC Engineer and an EMC Technical Committee member. Hycksu analyzed the EMI/EMC performance of automotive parts (AVN, SVM, ADAS, MDPS, MEB, INVERTER, CONVERTR). He analyzed simulations with CST’s many kinds of solver modules. Hycksu has attended and presented several papers in simulation and EMC engineering forums, including SIMULIA users’ conferences.

During his Master's course, Hyeonsung Hong studied the EM optics phenomena using FDTD analytic method at Kyungpook National University. He joined Hyundai Mobis Co. Ltd. after working at Defense Company’s Lab, where he developed radar system and UWB (to 40GHz) Direction Finding System on a battleship for 3 years.

As EM CAE engineer, Hyeonsung has analyzed the performances of various components on antennas (immo-coil, RKE, BT Wi-Fi, V2X and radar) and EMI/EMC/SI. He not only analyzed component-level but also full-vehicle-level simulations (installation, performances on driving and parking environment) with many kinds of solver modules from CST.

Ismael Rivero > Dassault Systemes

Ismael Rivero

Structural Engineer, Airbus

Ismael Rivero attended the Polytechnic University of Madrid to complete his aeronautical engineering degree; simultaneously, he started an internship at Airbus in the Defence and Space division.

After graduating, Ismael continued his journey with Airbus as a structural analysis engineer. Receiving many opportunities to contribute exciting aeronautical projects both in the commercial and military fields, such as A400M, A330-MRTT, A380 and A320neo. Since 2012, he has become experienced using SIMULIA products. Since then, he has become an intensive user of its structural analysis portfolio, especially Abaqus, performing a variety of simulations for structural response, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and failure of aeronautical structures.

Ismael has attended and presented several papers in simulation and aeronautical engineering forums such as SIMULIA users’ conferences, NAFEMS World Congress and ICAS Symposia. He believes in inspiring industry transformation through a robust and connected community of simulation engineers is a key need.

In 2001, Jaewon Kim received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electronics Engineering from the Korea University, South Korea. He received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, in 2008.

Jaewon’s current research includes electromagnetics and metamaterials at 3M Corp. Research Lab in St. Paul, MN.

Jamison Huber

Jamison Huber is a Senior Simulation Engineer at Doosan Bobcat and works out of their Acceleration Center in Bismarck, ND. Jamison received his Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering at North Dakota State University, which focused on transitional turbulence modeling.

Jamison has been using PowerFLOW for more than 5 years, focusing on underhood thermal modeling and acoustic simulations (primarily fan noise) in Bobcats skid steers, compact track loaders, and mini excavators. In his free time, Jamison enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and riding motorcycles.

John Vandeventer > Dassault Systemes

John Vandeventer

John Vandeventer is an Associate Technical Fellow in the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Structures Engineering Design and Analysis Solutions team. John has worked for Boeing as a Structures analyst for over 30 years after graduating from the University of Washington in 1989. Throughout his entire career John has used both CATIA (V3 thru V6/3DEXPERIENCE platform, Elfini) and SIMULIA (Abaqus, 3DEXPERIENCE platform) applications becoming a leader in the use of SIMULIA tools to simulate aircraft structure at Boeing. In his career John has also worked closely with Boeing analysts and SIMULIA R&D to ensure that the needs of those who use SIMULIA solutions is communicated with those who provide them.

Lars Pilgaard Mikkelsen > Dassault Systemes

Lars Pilgaard Mikkelsen

Associate Professor, Technical University of Denmark (DTU)

Lars Mikkelsen is associate professor at the Department of Wind Energy at the Technical University of Denmark. His field of interest is numerical finite elements simulations and experimental characterization of polymer matrix composites, where the focus is on the fatigue and compression behavior of wind turbine blade materials. His work involves the use of the commercial FE-code Abaqus together with user-defined subroutines as well as advanced characterization technics such as 3D X-ray tomography. Throughout the years, Lars has worked with nonlinear buckling and collapse of shell structures relevant for crashworthiness applications as well as simulations of tensile instabilities used in necking predictions during hydro-forming and strain gradient dependent plasticity models. He has been involved in a number of medico-inspired problems as well as in general finite element based projects predicting the influence of nonlinear materials behavior on the structural behavior.

Lin Biao Wang > Dassault Systemes

Lin Biao Wang

Expert - High Speed Electronic Simulation, Continental Automotive

Lin Biao Wang received his Bachelor of Engineering (2006), Master of Science (2009) and PhD (2015) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. His research interests include signal integrity, power integrity, measurement techniques for high-speed digital electronic circuits, electromagnetic interference (EMI) modeling and reduction techniques.

Lin joined Continental Automotive Singapore in 2012 as a high-speed engineer. In 2018, he became an EMC designer; here, building up the team’s capability with his knowledge and skills in EMC modeling and simulation.

During his career at Continental, he was awarded the title of technical expert in the field of “High-Speed Electronics Simulation.” He also assumed an additional responsibility of “Location Experts Spokesperson,” where he continues to lead the expert community across the business units in Singapore.

Lin also serves as a committee member in IEEE EMC Society (Singapore Chapter). He was awarded “IEEE EMC Society Young Professional Award” in 2019. He has been a user of CST since 2008 and delivered a keynote speech on “Driving Innovations with Simulations and Measurements” at the CST ASEAN User Conference.

Min Jie > Dassault Systemes

Min Jie

CAE Engineer, Ford Motor Company

Min Jie received his PhD from the University of Michigan in 2003, where he returned as a Lecturer and a Visiting Research Investigator in 2004. He has published dozens of technical publications in peer-reviewed journals. In his doctoral dissertation, he proposed a novel failure criterion for sheet metal forming.

Min has extensive experiences in powertrain durability analysis, first in automotive transmissions and then in electric powertrains. He is highly skilled with SIMULIA products, especially Abaqus. During his tenure with Ford, in addition to daily jobs of product development, he has been enthusiastically engaged in development of new analysis methods, e.g., 3D nonlinear FEA modeling for rotor assemblies and weld durability analysis based on J-integral. Min also works part time at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Wayne State University, where he teaches graduate students how to solve fundamental engineering problems with Abaqus. He has written more than a dozen of corporate engineering test procedures (CETPs) and 400+ internal CAE technical reports. He has received multiple awards and recognitions for his achievements at Ford.

Nikesh Mahendran > Dassault Systemes

Nikesh Mahendran

CAE Analyst, Ford Motor Company

For the past 14 years, Nikesh Mahendran has been working at Ford Motor Company as a CAE analyst. Nikesh’s job involves creating Finite Element models from CAD geometry, performing durability analysis and fatigue assessments using stress or strain based techniques. He carries out design optimization studies, reports results and recommendations in an accurate and concise manner. In modern engine downsizing design almost every component needs to be optimized to satisfy the emission/fuel economy needs and in the meantime to produce maximum power. Nikesh is contributing to this by doing CAE analysis, improving the robustness of the design, attaining weight reduction targets by doing more optimization based CAE jobs. He not only won the Power Train Engineering Achievement Award in 2013 and 2016 but also the Power Train Engineering Recognition Award in 2015 and the Award of Engineering Excellence in 2012.

Currently Nikesh is working in Suspension CAE team within Ford Motor Company, doing Strength, Durability, Equivalent/Dynamic Stiffness and Optimisation Analysis.

Raja Sengupta > Dassault Systemes

Raja Sengupta

Lead Engineer - Aerodynamics, Volvo Group Trucks

Raja Sengupta is Lead Engineer for Aerodynamics at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. He received his Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Raja has worked at Volvo Trucks for the past 13 years, where he has focused on aerodynamics and engine cooling. He has been involved in both Supertruck (DOE) programs, as well as the development of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Phase 2 regulation for heavy duty vehicles. Raja represents Volvo in the Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA) Aerodynamic Committee, which consists of aerodynamic experts from various Original Equipment Manufacturers. He chaired the Committee from 2017 to 2020. Raja started using SIMULIA PowerFLOW in 1999 for motorsports (NASCAR) and other applications before moving onto heavy duty trucks in 2004. He is currently working on the final development of Supertruck2 and the aerodynamic certification of Volvo’s current product portfolio for GHG Phase2.

Simon Duraffourg > Dassault Systemes

Simon Duraffourg

R&D Engineer, Decathlon

Simon Duraffourg is an R&D engineer in the body and research division at Decathlon. Prior to his current job, Simon used SIMULIA while working in energy and transportation product design.

Simon holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UTC University, France. He received his PhD from Paris East University, France, in 2015, in cooperation with Renault Car Company, focusing on life prediction of car structures.

Simon is passionate about numerical analysis and optimization of sport products. His desire to understand how body and sport products interact, in order to design the best products for the health of athletes and product performance, while reducing the environmental impact of these products.

Stefanie Feih > Dassault Systemes

Stefanie Feih

Professor of Engineering, Griffith University

Stefanie Feih is Professor of Engineering at Griffith University in Australia.
Stefanie has published more than 170 international journals and conference papers on lightweight structural performance over the past 20 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Germany, a Master’s degree from Cornell University, USA, and received her PhD from Cambridge University, UK, in 2002. Stefanie worked for the National Laboratory Risø, Denmark, and RMIT University, Australia, prior to moving to Singapore in 2014 with her family.
She is a member of the Executive Council of the International Committee on Composite Materials and Editor for Composites Part B. Stefanie also holds academic adjunct positions at RMIT University and the National University of Singapore. Industry applications for her work include wind, naval, O&G offshore and aerospace structures.

Thomas Siegmund > Dassault Systemes

Thomas Siegmund

Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University

Thomas Siegmund is professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. His current research interest is in computational mechanics as it relates to fracture and fatigue, biomechanics and architectured material systems.

Thomas’ work uses the FE code Abaqus together with a range of user-defined subroutines, CAD systems, python scripting and 3D imaging. He has a special focus on advancing cohesive zone model formulations, plasticity models and contact problems.

Thomas teaches two courses in which he introduces undergraduate students to fundamental concepts of FEA as well as graduate students to advanced concepts of FEA and fracture mechanics. He has worked on fundamental research problems and applied problems in collaboration with industry.

Xiao Li > Dassault Systemes

Post Doctor, China Academy of Space Technology

Dr.-Ing. Xiao Li received his PhD degree from the University of Wuppertal, Germany, in December 2016. He has been using Abaqus for more than 10 years. His research interests include “3D crack growth prediction”, “elastoplastic material behavior simulation” “additive manufacturing process simulation”, and many more. He is very familiar with the format of the “input” file and is skilled in UEL and UMAT development.

During his PhD study, Xiao independently developed a cyclic cohesive zone model for 3D elastoplastic fatigue crack growth, financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Currently, he is working on his post-doctorate project at the China Academy of Space Technology.

Xinpu Shen > Dassault Systemes

Xinpu Shen

Professor, China University of Petroleum

Xinpu Shen received his PhD in Engineering Mechanics in 1993 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. From 1993 to 1999, Xinpu was a lecturer and an associate professor at Tsinghua University. In 2001, he joined the Shenyang University of Technology, China, as a professor. In 2008, Xinpu worked as a senior technical advisor at Halliburton and moved to become a technical manager at Guoyang Technology and Services LLC in 2017. He has been a Professor at the College of Petroleum Engineering, China University of Petroleum (Huadong) since 2018.
In 2004, Professor Shen started his works of Numerical Modeling with Abaqus. He is author/co-author of two books published by Taylor & Francis Group in the UK. These two books present numerical solutions obtained with Abaqus toolkits for problems of Drilling and Reservoir Geomechanics, Casing Deformation, as well as Hydraulic Fracturing Optimization. He has also published 98 papers among which 34 can be downloaded from OnePetrol.com.

Yuming Wu > Dassault Systemes

Dr. Yuming Wu received her Bachelor’s of Engineering degree from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China, in 2006 and her PhD from the National University of Singapore in 2011. From 2011 to 2013, she was a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and had been to the Institute of Electronic, Microelectronic, and Nanotechnology, University of Lille 1, France as an Overseas Attachment Staff.
In 2013, Yuming joined the Beijing Institute of Technology and is currently working as an Associate Professor at Beijing Key Laboratory of Millimeter Wave and Terahertz Technology, School of Information and Electronics. Her research interests include characterization, design, and fabrication of electromagnetic meta-material/metasurface and advanced functional devices for optical/Terahertz/microwave frequency applications, flexible printed antenna and electronic devices for wearable and medical applications. She has been using SIMULIA for 15 years and is a Senior Member of IEEE.
