The lecture content is delivered in two morning sessions. The course workshops can be completed in the afternoons in our training room, while the instructor is available to help you.

Objective

When there is a temperature difference between one physical body and its surroundings or another body, heat is transferred from the hot body to a cold one until a state of thermal equilibrium is established. The study of this process is the aim of a heat transfer analysis.  The thermal response of a structure is of practical importance in many engineering applications.  For example, it is important that materials be able to withstand the heating generated in a given thermal load case.  In this seminar you will learn how to setup and perform Abaqus heat transfer analyses to compute thermal responses in terms of thermal variables such as Heat fluxes and Temperature distribution and gradient.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Thermal material properties (conductivity, specific heat, latent heat, etc.)
  • Heat transfer elements
  • Thermal boundary conditions and loads (prescribed temperatures and fluxes, radiation, etc.)
  • Steady-state and transient heat transfer simulations
  • Heat transfer across interfaces (i.e., thermal “contact”)
Who Should Attend

This seminar is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus/Standard.

This seminar is a suggested prerequisite to those interested in attending our subsequent Thermal-Stress Analysis with Abaqus live online course who are unfamiliar with Abaqus heat transfer capabilities.
