Co-simulation with Abaqus and Dymola

Course Dates

This course is presented in two lecture sessions from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT; lectures and demos will be presented by the instructor during this time.  There is a one-hour break in the middle of each lecture session (12:30 - 1:30 p.m. CT). The workshop sessions are conducted offline with technical support provided by SIMULIA Central via email and telephone from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. CT.

Objective

Abaqus-Dymola co-simulation is useful when logical modeling needs to be included in a physical system simulation; for example, it can be used to couple Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) logic modeled in Dymola with an Abaqus rolling tire and brake simulation. In a typical workflow, sensor data computed in Abaqus (the physical system) are passed to Dymola (the controller), which in turn computes the needed actuation to drive the Abaqus model to a desired state. The powerful logical modeling features in Dymola cover a wide variety of engineering fields, such as electromechanics, control systems, hydraulics, penumatics, etc. The ability to couple Dymola and Abaqus can be leveraged to develop a very versatile logical-physical modeling capability. Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Set up an Abaqus model for Abaqus-Dymola co-simulation
  • Create a simple control system in Dymola for co-simulation
  • Run a co-simulation between Abaqus and Dymola models
  • Review the co-simulation results
Who Should Attend

This course is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus and a basic understanding of control systems. Some familiarity with Dymola usage is helpful but not required. If you have not used Dymola before, read "Getting Started with Dymola" from the Dymola manual.

Pricing

The registration cost for this course is $600. For group discounts, please contact the local office before submitting your registration. Registrations after January 08, 2013 may incur an additional processing fee of $50 per person. SIMULIA Central reserves the right to decline registrations received after the deadline.

Academic Discount
A discounted registration fee of $200 is offered to all academic institutions on a space available basis. This discount cannot be combined with the multiple attendee discount. The registrations with the academic discount will not include workshop support.

What is Included

Electronic copies of the training notes will be provided to each registrant for their personal use. Every registrant will also receive a copy of Abaqus Student Edition. Many of the topics covered in this course can be practiced using Abaqus Student Edition; however, to ensure that you can perform all the course workshops fully, you will need access to a licensed copy of Abaqus. No additional Abaqus licenses will be provided.
