Basics of Scripting in Abaqus

Course Dates

This course is presented in two lecture sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT; lectures and demos will be presented by the instructor during this time.  There is a half-hour break in the middle of each lecture session (10:00 - 10:30 p.m. PT). The workshop sessions are conducted offline with technical support provided by SIMULIA West via email and telephone from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. PT.

Online option:

Classroom option:

Attend the same course in person at the SIMULIA office in San Francisco bay area, benefit from the classroom experience, interact with other attendees and avoid interruptions from day-to-day workload. The lecture content is delivered in two morning sessions. The course workshops can be completed in the afternoons in our training room, while the instructor is available to help you.


Objective

The objective of this course is to provide a hands-on introduction to the Python scripting language and its use in Abaqus/CAE for Abaqus FEA pre- and post-processing. In this class you will learn how to use Python and the Abaqus Scripting Interface to automate repetitive tasks such as model generation, job submission, job monitoring, and results visualization. The seminar also includes discussions on using Python to access Abaqus results on the output database (.odb) file.

Who Should Attend

This course is recommended for engineers with experience using Abaqus who wish to develop scripts that enhance and automate specific applications in Abaqus. Familiarity with Abaqus/CAE is helpful.

Pricing

The registration cost for this course is $600. Registrations after March 19, 2013 might incur an additional processing fee of $50 per person. SIMULIA West reserves the right to decline registrations received after the deadline.

Academic Discount
A discounted registration fee of $200 is offered to all academic institutions on a space available basis. The registrations with the academic discount will not include workshop support.

What is Included

Electronic copies of the training notes will be provided to each registrant for their personal use. Every registrant will also receive a copy of Abaqus Student Edition. Many of the topics covered in this course can be practiced using Abaqus Student Edition; however, to ensure that you can perform all the course workshops fully, you will need access to a licensed copy of Abaqus. No additional Abaqus licenses will be provided.
