NAICO Malaysia

National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia) identified Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform as a best-in-class solution to upskill the local workforce with industry-standard technology, using industry solution experiences Co-Design to Target, Ready for Rate, Program Excellence, and Keep Them Operating. The platform's data science capabilities will also establish a new technology and knowledge depository to empower local aerospace suppliers with actionable insights.

Strengthening the Malaysian aerospace industry

The Malaysian aerospace sector is on the brink of a monumental transformation. The country’s government has recently launched its New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which sets out its ambition to transform Malaysia into a global hub for manufacturing services across industries including aerospace.

Malaysia is where global starts,” said Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry, at the recent Defense Services Asia exhibition. “This means that Malaysia is where global companies can situate their regional hubs and where domestic homegrown companies can grow into global champions.”

To achieve these goals, Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry has established National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia) to serve as a key link between industry players, government agencies and academia to strengthen the capabilities and capacity of Malaysian aerospace companies.

Local businesses will have the opportunity to find out how key stakeholders across the aerospace value chain can use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to better collaborate and optimize their supply chains.

Challenge

NAICO Malaysia has been tasked with developing local expertise, enhancing technology and engineering development, and building the industry’s capacity for research and innovation. Its goal is to help realize the targets set out in the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030: to build an industry that will achieve RM55.2 billion (€10.9 billion) in annual revenue and create 32,000 jobs by 2030.

To this end, NAICO Malaysia wanted to upskill local aerospace companies by providing training on industry-standard technology solutions for design, engineering and simulation.

Solution

After reviewing market-leading technologies, NAICO Malaysia decided it would help local aerospace businesses learn how to use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. It chose the platform because it is preferred by the world’s largest OEMs.

NAICO Malaysia was keen to benefit from the full capabilities of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, including CATIA for design, ENOVIA for product lifecycle management and collaboration, NETVIBES for data science and analytics, and DELMIA for production planning and virtual factory simulation, as well as for ergonomics analysis to ensure a safe working environment.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is helping us to strengthen the capabilities of our local workforce and competency of the local players. The best-in-class solutions will also help us enhance the Malaysian aerospace sector’s competitiveness and attract future investments and industry partnerships.

Benefits

To upskill the local workforce, NAICO Malaysia is establishing "Malaysia Aerospace Centre of Excellence (MyAERO Centre) 3D Visualisation Lab", a learning environment within its Center of Excellence. Here, Malaysian aerospace companies can familiarize themselves with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its solutions.

Through hands-on experiences, visitors to the lab will be trained on CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA, and learn how to innovate across the product development process – from design and simulation to collaboration and manufacturing. This will accelerate the region’s adoption of quality practices to comply with industry regulations and ensure local businesses are better equipped to work with prominent global OEMs.

NAICO Malaysia is also exploring how it might leverage the 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s machinery integration capabilities. Using DELMIA, for example, to program computer numerical control machines and set up robotic simulation, it can demonstrate how to achieve digital continuity between design and production.

This is just the beginning. NAICO Malaysia also plans to harness NETVIBES data science solutions to establish a new Malaysia Aerospace Digital System (MADS) – a technology and knowledge depository for Malaysian aerospace companies. With help from Feiran Technology Services, NETVIBES will aggregate in-context information in real time from industry updates and upcoming tenders. Armed with business analytics, Malaysian suppliers will be able to make better informed decisions when bidding for prominent global projects.

The 3DEXPERIENCE platform will bring NAICO Malaysia closer to meeting the objectives of the government’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and, by facilitating cost-effective process innovation, realize its vision to establish Malaysia as a global leader in aerospace engineering, manufacturing and services.
