Connected Consumables
IF WE put human in center of cancer therapy, can we secure access to cancer treatment in the future?

Challenge
As cancer becomes a chronic condition, the demand for repeated infusion therapies grows while qualified nursing staff decline. Infusion workflows involve many manual, safety-critical steps that increase workload and risk of error.
Connected Consumables addresses this challenge with a fully connected drug-delivery platform that automates key infusion tasks.
Using a multi-input pump and patented data-over-fluid technology, the system identifies medications in real time, prevents errors, and executes infusion sequences automatically.
Integrated software enables seamless planning, digital prescriptions, documentation, and direct protocol transmission—reducing nurse workload and enabling more patients to be treated safely with existing resources.

Disruptive Innovation
Connected Consumables introduces a fundamentally new approach to infusion therapy by transforming a manual, analog process into a connected, automated, end-to-end system. Its patented “data-over-medical-fluid”-technology turns medical consumables into smart, traceable components, enabling automated medication verification, guided setup, and sequential drug delivery.
By integrating smart disposables with a multi-input infusion pump and a cloud to point-of-care data infrastructure, Connected Consumables creates a closed-loop oncology workflow. This system ensures accurate adherence to treatment plans, provides real-time documentation, dose calculation, and treatment coordination, making the entire therapy process more efficient, scalable and reliable.

Impact
Connected Consumables directly advances several Sustainable Development Goals by transforming infusion therapy into a safer, more efficient, and scalable process. By reducing administration time by over 20% and lowering staff workload by more than 60%, it enhances SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, improving patient safety, therapy accuracy, and quality of life.
Automation also supports SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by relieving nurses of repetitive manual tasks, enabling more time for patient care, and increasing process reliability. Through digital, traceable workflows, pharmacists and quality officers can ensure compliance and standardize operations, advancing SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. By enabling safe, high-quality care without expanding physical infrastructure, Connected Consumables helps reduce inequalities in access to oncology treatment, contributing to SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities.

Leveraging the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
To support its innovation, Connected Consumables plans to leverage the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to significantly enhance efficiency and collaboration across its multidisciplinary teams and support its product development. Among the tools available:
- MEDIDATA will primarily facilitate essential aspects of clinical study management.
- SOLIDWORKS and CATIA will enable detailed mechanical design, tooling, and fixture development.
- SIMULIA will provide simulation and virtual testing capabilities, allowing Connected Consumable to validate performance and reliability early in the design process.
Together, these tools ensure robust support for the development of safe and efficient oncology infusion solutions.
Collaborative & Collective Intelligence
The startup leverages collective intelligence through its interdisciplinary team, which includes a high number of clinicians who provide direct medical insight.
Furthermore, they have actively collaborated with the medical community by testing their technology with over 50 nurses at major institutions, including the Mayo Clinic and The Ohio State University, to ensure the solution meets real-world clinical needs.
Their infrastructure also enables a cloud to point-of-care data network, allowing for decentralized control and real-time data processing across different points of care.

Connected Consumables
Connected Consumables is creating a next-generation infusion system designed to transform how cancer treatments are delivered. Its fully connected platform uses smart, traceable consumables and an intelligent multi-input pump to automate critical steps, prevent medication errors, and lighten nurses’ workload. By turning a manual process into a safe, digital, and scalable workflow, it helps expand access to high-quality oncology care without adding strain to clinical resources.
