In this role, you will be part of our 3DEXCITE Services team, which is responsible as Unreal Technical Artist to the team that provides state of the art marketing and sales oriented solutions for experiences on mobile, desktop and AR/VR platforms.

As an expert you will work on the components to support configurable 3D visualization solutions for Marketing and Sales. The team develops these components for scalable solutions across our services solution portfolio.

What will your role be?

  • A Technical Artist is a creative and technical operator who communicates with the artist and programmer teams.
    Due to their graphic and programming skill a Technical Artist is able to grasp both disciplines and solve problems and support the corresponding teams across departments.
  • A Technical Artist will work closely with artists and programmers to help with the asset and pipeline optimizations 
  • You will participate in the implementation of technical art features, develop tools and workflows, and will perform debugging on tools and processes
  • The main and usual functions of the Technical Artist are to:
    • Setting up and maintaining production pipelines and workflow
    • Develop and test tools that will be used by the artists to improve and assist their work in production
    • Work with Art Leads, Technical Directors and QA to ensure that all the assets conform to technical requirements 
    • Use the best tools and methods for improving and facilitating the graphic workload
    • Share best practices, conduct training sessions to the team to ensure proper use of tools and methods 
    • Integrate, validate and optimize graphic data in the engine by using scripts if needed
    • Ensure that graphic bugs get fixed according to their priorities and provide support to the other artists
    • Produce and maintain documentation on tools, methods, trainings, processes, and engine limits for consultation and future reference
    • Help and spearhead the QA Team on ensuring that assets are 100% bug-free and shippable
    • Gatekeeper of Tech Art constraints, pushing for top visual quality and performance
    • Optimization and Profiling

  • Ensure knowledge sharing within the team and encourage introduction of new ideas/enhancements
  • Proactively optimize processes and suggest new ideas

Your key success factors

  • At least 7+ years of work experience in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine with Blueprints, and with C++ is an advantage
  • Rock solid understanding of the way Materials work
  • Good understanding of CGI technology, theory and practice
  • Production experience in the CGI industry (e.g., VFX, games, animation, visualization, etc) is a big plus
  • Familiarity with code management and deployment systems (Git, Rez, Pip, etc)
  • Experience working with render farm management systems; Deadline highly desired
  • Good knowledge in building, debugging and optimizing Shading network/material. Ability to understand/write shaders is good to have
  • Basic C++ development is not mandatory but good to have
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments
  • Python scripting
  • Knowledge of Qt, PySide and a good UI design sense

  • Experience working with databases and production/asset management solutions such as Shotgrid or FTrack
  • Experience in working with USD a plus
