Your Mission: 

 

Our Patient Cloud Engineering team is building tools that will help to empower and engage patients in every stage of the clinical trial. As Staff Applications Engineer, you will design, implement, deploy and support our mobile platform, from devices and mobile sensors to platform API’s. The services you build will enable mobile applications and mHealth device data collection. 

Your responsibilities will include hands-on implementation and development with Ruby on Rails, Postgres/MySQL and Amazon Web Services amongst other tools. 

  • Design and develop scalable distributed systems supporting mobile and web SaaS applications.

  • Partner with Product Managers to turn great ideas into detailed requirements. 

  • Design how features should be implemented, and help determine the best architecture to use in each situation.

  • Demonstrate a passion for your craft, be self-motivated and eager to engage in high impact, challenging engineering problems while continuously raising the standard of quality in our products and services in a full solutions-oriented SaaS environment. 

Your Competencies: 

  • Programming: Strong object-oriented design and programming skills with an object-oriented language such as Ruby, Java, or C#

  • TDD/BDD experience

  • Understanding of source control management (Git/GitHub)

  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders in Product and Support teams.

  • Databases: Strong experience writing and optimizing SQL, Postgres and/or MySQL

  • Adaptable: Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment 

  • Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Passionate: A passion to stay current with new technologies and engineering concepts

Bonus Points:

  • 1+ years leading or mentoring a small team of engineers

  • Developing services supporting mobile applications

  • Clinical research knowledge or worked in a regulated environment

  • .NET development experience

Your Education & Experience: 

  • B.S. or M.S. Computer Science, Engineering, related field or relevant experience preferred

  • Requires minimum of 6 years experience developing web applications and services in a distributed application.
