Our Team:
This position is for Patient cloud eCOA team working on the patient facing technologies.  This team is working on the latest tools and technologies developing a next generation SaaS solutions and native mobile apps using the technologies like Reactjs, AWS, lambdas, Swift & Kotlin.

Who we're looking for:
Medidata is looking for an experienced Manager, Engineering to lead a growing engineering team as they design, implement, deploy and operate our web applications that enables clinical trial applications and data analytics.  The person selected will be central to building the engineering teams, the infrastructure, the microservices and the software that runs the world's most used platform for clinical development.  You will work in a highly collaborative environment with product, PMO and QA and be responsible for solving complex problems that span cross-functional domains.  

Core functions:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of Medidata products and platform, and align with priorities, to deliver technical solutions

  • Be a force multiplier, in leading by example as an individual contributor, architect, operations engineer and quality enforcer, to increase the effectiveness of the team

  • Supervise technical aspects of projects, anticipate and mitigate risks and dependencies, ensure team health and manage complex tasks 

  • Propose optimizations to technical architecture to improve performance

Your Competencies:

  • Be self motivated, eager to collaborate, and have a high impact on challenging engineering problems, while continuously raising the standard of quality in our products and services in a full solutions-oriented SaaS environment. 

  • Experience programming in a language like React, Javascript,Ruby, Java,or similar

  • Experience with Web Development, designing and consuming RESTful API’s for mobile consumers

  • Experience programming using object-oriented and SOA principles

  • Experience building large scale, highly distributed systems

  • Experience developing cloud-based web applications or services (AWS a plus)

  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL and databases

  • Experience using TDD and BDD frameworks

  • Proficiency with CICD pipelines

  • Adherence to agile development practices

  • Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment

  • Experience in leading one or more development teams

  • Proven record of coaching and developing developers of varying maturity levels

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Requirements (Education & Experience):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science (or related field) 

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, and/or managing one or more engineering teams

  • 7+ years of professional experience

The salary range posted below refers only to positions that will be physically based in New York City.  As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.  Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region. The base salary pay range for this position is $135,000 to $177,119.  

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission under the terms of applicable plan documents, while many of Medidata’s non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
