What your role will be?

As part of the SOLIDWORKS Operations group, the User Assistance team's mission is to provide thorough, accurate, engaging, and easy-to-find information so that busy users can do their work effectively and efficiently.

As a web developer working with the User Assistance and Web Tools teams, your main task will be to help to upgrade the online help domain so that it uses the same new features that have recently been developed for the domain. You may also support other development for the two help domains, including ongoing efforts to unify their technologies and architectures.

You will work under the supervision of the SOLIDWORKS User Assistance Director and the Software Engineering Director for the Web Tools team. You will likely have contact with English-speaking development teams and interns in India and in France. You might perform additional testing and production tasks for the SOLIDWORKS User Assistance team as time allows.

The Challenges Ahead

  • Adapt the responsive redesign of for use on, primarily working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Adapt the new mechanism for collecting feedback from our users and usage analytics that is deployed on for use on Includes work on storing, analyzing, and visualizing the resulting data using our User Analytics service and 3DEXPERIENCE platform dashboard/visualization tools.
  • Contribute as time allows to ongoing work to redesign and rearchitect the main landing and navigation user interface for and
  • Contribute as time allows to efforts to refactor and unify the code and structure of our two online help domains. 
  • Assist as necessary with other web development and user assistance development tasks

Your Key Success Factors

  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Web Development, or similar area of study for the duration of the internship
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Highly-developed skills in core web technologies - HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience with some or all of the following, or with similar tools: a modern Web tool stack such as MERN or MEVN, ASP.NET, SQL Server or other database technology, analytics tools such as Google Analytics
  • Keen sense of web design and understanding of the fundamentals of User Interface design
  • Passionate about improving the user experience
  • Ability to learn new tools and components very quickly
  • Ability to shift directions quickly when priorities change
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative team structure
