What your role will be?
As a Robotics Applications Intern, you will work with the R&D Robotics OLP Development Team. The Team is responsible for developing applications used for simulation and offline programming of industrial robots. They are responsible for the product design and accurate simulation of robot programs including the generation of production robot programs.
You will write software to contribute to our team’s projects and create 3D robot models to be used in simulation. These 2 responsibilities combine 2 of the core disciplines of robotics: computer science and mechanical engineering.
This is a 3 to 4-month, full time, 40 hours per week paid internship, May - August 2023. You will be working in the Dassault Systèmes office located on 900 North Squirrel Road, Suite 100, Auburn Hills, MI 48326.
The Challenges ahead
You will start with creating some 3D robot models of new industrial robots recently released on the market. Next you will start with an internal software project that is used to automate our testing and development processes. Depending on the workload and previous experience, you may also develop new software features for our external products. Previous intern projects include automating the 3D robot model data conversion process, writing inverse kinematics solvers, and writing robot language translation for a new machine instruction.
This internship will provide experience working with CATIA, mechanical design, and industrial robots. You will also get experience writing software in C++ and/or VB.NET.
