INTERNSHIP: Software Validation Engineer (Jan - June 2026)
Role Description & Responsibilities
Our Dassault Systemes SIMULIA Physics Validation team is excited to announce we have a hybrid internship opportunity available in our Waltham, MA office!
The SIMULIA Physics Validation Team is an integral part of the SIMULIA Fluids R&D organization, a world-class group of researchers in the fields of Lattice Boltzmann and Turbulence Modeling. SIMULIA software simulation products impact how Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used in many industrial settings worldwide. We work on the verification and validation of CFD products for its accuracy, robustness and performance for CFD applications in ground transportation, aerospace, oil-gas, etc.
We are looking for a Software Validation Engineer to join us as we develop new aerothermal flow simulation capabilities. This is a paid sixth month internship/co-op, to begin in spring 2025. This position is based at the Dassault Systemes Office, Waltham, MA.
As a Software Validation Engineer, you will be part of a critical team who are driving the development of new aerothermal simulation capabilities. We’ll provide you with the steps, tools and leadership that will help advance your career at Dassault Systemes and help our customers reach their goals. In this role, you will:
Perform physics validation and verification tasks of SIMULIA’s emerging simulation technologies, some of these tasks include geometry preparation, simulation, results evaluation, and report generation.
Obtain reference solutions of Heat Transfer problems that will be used to evaluate the accuracy of SIMULIA’s software predictions.
Assess the numerical order of accuracy and stability of SIMULIA’s software.
Develop Python scripts for the automatization of the following tasks; case preparation, simulation, results post-processing, and report generation.
Interact with multiple teams in the organization to report results and support problem solving efforts.
Qualifications
- PhD Student in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience performing CFD simulations
- Knowledge of Heat Transfer
- Knowledge of Partial Differential Equations
- Knowledge of Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations
- Knowledge of CFD theory
- Knowledge of Finite Volume Method is desired
- Experience in Validation & Verification of CFD products is a plus
- Proficient using Python
- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux
- Experience with Shell scripting is a plus
Fluency in English, both written and verbal is essential
Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $36.00 and $40.00 per hour.

Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $33 and $40, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
