INTERNSHIP: Data Science – R&D Operations & Software Test Analytics - Onsite RI 6mo 2026
Role Description & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated, curious, and proactive Data Science Intern to join our R&D organization, focusing on analyzing operations and software testing data to drive actionable insights and continuous improvement. In this role, you will work at the intersection of data science, engineering, and quality assurance to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
- Analyze R&D operations and software test data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on large datasets including test results, defect logs, and system performance metrics
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across development and testing pipelines
- Collaborate with management, software engineers and quality engineers to translate data insights into process improvements
- Apply statistical methods and machine learning techniques to predict defect patterns, test coverage gaps, and resource utilization
- Clean, preprocess, and integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., CI/CD systems, issue tracking tools, simulation outputs)
- Automate recurring analysis and reporting workflows using scripting and data tools
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
We are seeking a positive and ambitious team-oriented person with the following qualifications:
- Recent graduate or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong programming skills in Python or R (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
- Working knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases
- Familiarity with data visualization tools
- Understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and basic machine learning concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex insights clearly

Inclusion statement
Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $25 and $36 per hour.
