INTERNSHIP: 3D Simulation Software Quality Engineer
Role Description & Responsibilities
Our Dassault Systemes SIMULIA R&D Quality Engineering is excited to announce we have a FULL Time On-site internship opportunity available in our Johnston, RI office!
The SIMULIA Quality Engineering team consists of a dynamic cohort of testing specialists with a diversity of skills and backgrounds. Each member on the team brings his/her expertise and unique perspective to testing our Simulation products and technologies. With SIMULIA simulation technology, users can model virtual prototypes that help you answer many fundamental questions in advance of or as a replacement for physical testing. The knowledge and know-how generated by leveraging SIMULIA’s software products reduces costs, eliminates errors, and shortens design cycles.
- Perform test define and execution of our 3DEXPERIENCE Simulation software applications
- Assist in the planning, coordination & support of our Beta sessions
- Perform continuous process and test improvement initiatives to improve our product quality and process efficiency including the development of a continuous automated testing system
- Validate Industry models and workflows across supported simulation execution configuration environments including HPC On Premises and On Cloud
- Perform non-functional testing activities including design and execution of installation, licensing, performance & scalability tests
- Review software requirements, specifications and technical design documents
- Analyze, debug and communicate findings and results to key stakeholders
- Identify and document software defects and validate fixes in a timely manner
- Participate in release readiness assessments
Your role will include designing and executing functional, performance and reliability test plans and ensuring expected quality criteria is successfully achieved prior to release. You will run FEA-based simulations covering a range of Industry scenarios on supported hardware configurations including High Performance Computing (HPC) environments both On Premises and On Cloud. You will capture and analyze the corresponding current and historical test results to assess quality, identify areas for improvement and communicate key insights.
Qualifications
Some knowledge of the following areas is invaluable:
- Enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics or Data Science
- Exposure to SolidWorks or similar modeling tools
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Great attention to details
- Enjoy problem solving with strong critical thinking skills and passion to learn
The following areas are not required but nice to have:
- Exposure to Cloud Computing & HPC technologies and environments
- Some Finite Element Analysis (FEA) coursework and experience using at least one FEA software product
- Understanding of software testing concepts

This is a paid 6-month internship with a flexible start. Your work schedule can be tailored to balance both your internship and your academic schedule. This position is based at the Dassault Systemes Simulia Corp.’s office located at 1301 Atwood Ave, Johnston, RI
Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $23.00 and $40.00 representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
