Intern (m/f/d) – RF & Antenna Systems / Beamforming for 5G & 6G
We are currently hiring for an exciting opportunity as an Intern (m/f/d) – RF & Antenna Systems / Beamforming for 5G & 6G to join our team.
Join the Antenna & RF Systems R&D organization at Dassault Systèmes and help shape the technology that will connect the world of tomorrow! Working alongside experienced RF and electromagnetics engineers, the team designs, simulates, and validates the beamforming systems that power everything from massive MIMO base stations to satellite links - one of the key enabling technologies for 6G.
Role Description & Responsibilities
- Investigate and simulate large antenna array architectures using state-of-the-art, industry-grade EM simulation tools
- Couple antenna arrays with RF chains to model a complete beamformer front end, including power amplifier and load-pull effects
- Demonstrate how real-world distortions (non-linearities, mutual coupling, active impedance) impact modulated signals in both the spatial and spectral domain - from sidelobe levels to EVM
- Derive engineering trade-offs between amplifier performance and antenna array requirements
- Contribute hands-on to a team actively solving new problems in beamforming and RF front-end design, not just running existing recipes
- Develop demonstrators and reference models that support field tech-sales and R&D teams in showcasing next-gen beamforming solutions
Qualifications
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or a related field
- You have a good grasp of applied electromagnetics; prior exposure to antenna systems, antenna arrays, or RF front-end design is a strong plus
- You bring basic knowledge of communication systems and signal processing (modulation, EVM, spectral analysis)
- You are proficient in Python or a similar language for simulation, automation, or data analysis
- Experience with CST Studio Suite and/or IVCAD Suite is desirable, but not required - we're happy to help you build this skill
- You enjoy breaking down complex, open-ended problems and are curious to learn the tools and workflows used across the RF/antenna industry
