About the Team:
As an AWS WorkSpaces Engineer, you will be the primary architect and administrator of our cloud desktop infrastructure. You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of AWS WorkSpaces—from large-scale deployment and image management to high-level escalation support. Your goal is to deliver a seamless, high-performance virtual desktop experience while driving cost efficiencies and technical excellence across the organization. You will provide seamless Tier 1 to Tier 3 support to resolve immediate end-user challenges while simultaneously engineering the robust AWS infrastructure that prevents those issues from recurring. You will own the "Day 1" onboarding experience and the "Day 2" optimization of our global AWS WorkSpaces environment, ensuring a high-performance, cost-effective, and secure workspace for every employee. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Deployment of AWS Workspaces in various AWS accounts
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting configuration issues with AWS Workspaces which are not operating as expected
- Distinguish between application, operating system, network, and hardware problems
- Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences
- Must have knowledge of Active Directory management (AWS hosted Active Directory a plus!), maintenance, and Group Policy Object creations
- Experience creating Windows images, Linux/Ubuntu deployments, and troubleshooting both OS platforms
- Collaborate with AWS CloudsOps engineering teams to evaluate and develop scalable AWS solutions to better access resources in AWS accounts
- Must have excellent verbal and writing skills to create and maintain AWS Workspace documentations for the extended team
- Be able to modify and improve existing AWS infrastructure
- Provide users with support on technical, operational, and user/account-related issues, on the phone, via email/ticketing system and/or in person
- Ability to work independently on projects and deliver on or before deadlines
- Attend meetings with various stakeholders to ensure requirements are assessed and deliverables are on target
- Continuously evaluate ways to provide Amazon Workspaces as a cost effective and efficient offering
- Educate the wider team on best practices and ensure high levels of service are being provided
- Coordinate issue resolution efforts with other departments to ensure timely and efficient resolutions are met and customer satisfaction is upheld
- Maintain proper tracking of problem resolution and conduct trend analysis for reference and management reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
- Experience: 3-4yrs supporting AWS Workspaces or VDI environments
Preferred Candidates should have a minimum of one of the certifications below:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
Your Competencies:
- Must have thorough understanding of AWS Cloud infrastructure
- Have thorough understanding of AWS Workspaces and deployment on a mass scale
- Ability to review, understand and extract data from Nuvens Workspace Manager or equivalent endpoint management solution
- Prior experience of administering Windows and Active Directory is essential
- Reproduce technical problems, diagnose causes, identify temporary solutions and communicate status updates to AWS Users
- Inform and instruct the wider team on new products, features and best practices
- Manage and assist in the development and revisions of Training Presentations, Quick Reference Guides and Other Support Materials
- Strong Customer Service skills, both telephone and email, with excellent oral and written communications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while adhering to tight deadlines
- Deliver high quality of work keeping in frame support metrics like Customer Satisfaction, Turnaround Times, timely follow ups etc.
- Be able to prioritize work based on business and customer demands
- AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or AWS SysOps Administrator certifications very much preferred
- Previous AWS console and Synchronet Click administration is a big plus
- Leverage tools to provide cost savings year on year availability for out of hours support if/when required
As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location. Pay ranges for candidates in locations other than New York City, may differ based on the local market data in that region.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $79,500- $106,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses. Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $79500 and $106000, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.
