For Dassault Systèmes, pursuing ethical and sustainable growth is a one of the pillars of our corporate social responsibility policy and our sustainability strategy more widely.
Compliance with ethical rules and international standards is part of Dassault Systèmes corporate purpose to imagine sustainable innovations capable of harmonizing product, nature and life. These principles guide the conduct of the Company and are essential to our role and reputation as a strategic partner to our customers. Dassault Systèmes is a long-term company, which has always built relationships of trust with its stakeholders - its employees, customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders as well as regulatory and government bodies.
We have always considered the protection of personal data as a major issue for our clients and partners and are conscious of the responsibility in the processing of personal data. Since the introduction of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we have reasserted our data protection commitment by improving our solutions through new capacities that enable our clients and partners to manage their GDPR compliance programs.
Our solutions are designed according to the concept of “Privacy by Design”, which aims to ensure that privacy is integrated into applications from the design stage. In 2019, all our offers were updated to take account of regulatory changes and maintain their compliance with this concept.
Dassault Systèmes' commitment to ethical and sustainable growth is supported by a transparent and responsible tax policy in all the countries where the Company operates.
In line with this commitment, the Company’s tax policy relies on three key principles:
Dassault Systèmes' tax policy is defined according to applicable regulations, notably the principles found in European directives and OECD recommendations, and it is implemented in accordance with the company’s business and operational objectives.
Dassault Systèmes’ purpose is to provide 3DEXPERIENCE® universes “to imagine sustainable innovations that are capable of harmonizing product, nature and life”. We are committed to this purpose and convinced that virtual universes will be key to enabling the global sustainability transformation that is already underway.
However, virtual universes can of course be used for the any kind of innovation, not only “sustainable innovations”. We are very aware that when it comes to Sustainability, especially in the technology sector, increasing attention is being paid not only to the impact of a company’s products & services, but how they are used and to whom they are sold.
To that end, we have defined a 3DS Acceptable Use Policy, defining certain kinds of activities that we do not believe our software should support progress, notably in the areas of weapons but also coal, tobacco and oil & gas when these industries do not make clear and public commitment to reduce their carbon footprint.
We are proud of this new policy; it aligns us even further with our core business purpose, helps ensure that our own client portfolio is “future fit”, and enables us to focus our energy, resources, and attention where they should be: on helping our customers to build a more sustainable world.
As part of its activities to engage stakeholders, Dassault Systèmes often communicates with French, European, and international institutions, through position statements, direct contact and participation in professional organizations, think tanks, and events. These activities are aligned with the Group’s goals and values of trust and transparency and are carried out in a coordinated and consistent way. The main issues addressed with public stakeholders include shaping Europe’s digital future, European data strategy, developing common requirements for a European Cloud, contributing to new materials, innovation in public health policies, or combatting climate change with the Green Deal, etc.
Dassault Systèmes conducts these activities in a transparent manner:
• 3DS is registered on the European Transparency Register under number 454608238523-04. Dassault Systèmes’ positions and answers to EU consultations are publicly available on the EU register, together with the list of the main professional organizations and think tanks 3DS is active in. As a registered company, Dassault Systèmes follows the rules of the EU transparency register's Code of Conduct in the framework of its relations with the EU institutions;
• 3DS is listed on the French Register for Interest Representatives. At the national level, it aims to provide information to citizens on the relationship between interest representatives and public officials when public decisions are made.
• 3DS supports the UN Global Compact’s call to companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals.
In addition, Dassault Systèmes follows its own ethics and compliance “Code of business conduct”. 3DS also complies with applicable international conventions, does not seek information or decisions dishonestly, or by use of undue pressure or inappropriate behavior, and provides, to the best of their knowledge, EU representatives and stakeholders with complete, accurate, and up-to-date information."
Dassault Systèmes’ Public Affairs activities are led by the Vice President, Public Sector, and are overseen by the Executive Vice President for Industry, Marketing, and Sustainability.
