Dassault Systèmes’ climate commitments

Dassault Systemes announces Science-based Targets and climate neutrality Timeline to help meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and support the global response to the threat of climate change to keep global warming below 1.5°C.

  • As a world leader in Virtual Twin Experiences (VTE) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), we have furthered our purpose to harmonize product, nature and life by establishing a strategy to reduce emissions in line with climate science, with a goal to reach climate neutrality by 2040.
  • Our greenhouse gas emissions targets (scopes 1 and 2) are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement.
  • We target that the emissions from our value chain (scope 3) meet the SBTi’s criteria for ambitious value chain goals, meaning we are in line with current best practices.
  • Our climate neutrality strategy will prioritize carbon removal projects supported whenever possible by our sustainable innovation solutions.

What are the Science-based Targets scopes?

Scope 1

Direct emissions by an organization, e.g. from burning fuels such as natural gas for heating or petrol to fuel cars.

Scope 2

Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, cooling, heat or steam.

Scope 3

All other indirect emissions (i.e. not included in Scope 2) that occur in the value chain, e.g. from the use of sold products and services, business travel or waste disposal.
