Ethics Culture

Compliance with ethical rules and international standards is part of Dassault Systèmes corporate purpose, "to imagine sustainable innovations capable of harmonizing product, nature and life". These principles guide the conduct of the Company and are essential to our role and reputation as a strategic partner to our customers. Dassault Systèmes is a long-term company, which has always built relationships of trust with its stakeholders - its employees, customers, partners, suppliers, shareholders as well as regulatory and government bodies.

Ethics and compliance rules applicable at Dassault Systèmes

The Dassault Systèmes Code of Business Conduct and Corporate Social Responsibility Principles set out our ethics and compliance principles. Certain Code of Business Conduct principles are supplemented with specific implementation policies or charters. Some examples include topics such as the fight against corruption, the protection of intellectual property, confidentiality obligations, personal data protection, IT security, and measures to ensure fair competitive practices.

Dassault Systèmes’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles are based on the fundamental international principles of human rights, social rights and environmental protection, such as the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Labour Organisation's fundamental conventions. Established in 2008, they have been updated in 2018 to reinforce the principles of non-discrimination, of intolerance to any forms of forced labor, slavery or servitude and any forms of corruption, as well as compliance with the regulations on the protection of personal data and the environment.

In this context and in accordance with the UK Modern Slavery Act applicable since 2016, the Board of Directors of Dassault Systèmes annually approves a transparency statement describing the policies and procedures implemented within the Group to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from taking place within its business or its supplier relationship.

Besides, pursuant to the new UK tax rules recently entered into force, Dassault Systèmes is publishing its Tax Strategy.

All these documents are intended to serve as the reference for all Dassault Systèmes employees to guide them in their day-to-day work and to serve as inspiration for our partners and suppliers. 

Ethics and compliance governance

Dassault Systèmes established an Ethics Committee and an Ethics & Compliance Department responsible for oversight of ethics and compliance in the Group. The scope of their work spans all relevant ethics and compliance issues, notably protection of intellectual property, confidentiality, the fight against corruption and fraud, compliance with competition and data export rules, personal data protection, IT security, and ethics in labor relations (specifically with respect to countering discrimination and harassment, use of social media and networks, and monitoring of potential conflicts of interest).

The Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee meets at least once a month and is tasked with ensuring all employees adhere to the Code of Business Conduct, which defines the individual and group ethical behavior rules. The Ethics Committee's mission is to investigate any cases of non-compliance that may come to its attention.

The Ethics and Compliance Department

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Ethics and Compliance Department is responsible for defining and implementing Dassault Systèmes' ethics and compliance program, working closely with the Ethics Committee. Specifically and in cooperation with other departments in the Company, it is responsible for:

  • promoting a culture of integrity in the Group, notably by raising employee awareness and providing training;
  • assessing and preventing ethics and compliance risks, and resolving or assisting the local teams to resolve any issues that may arise;
  • evaluating the Dassault Systèmes' ethics and compliance program and submitting proposals to the Ethics Committee with respect to any adjustments required to such a program.

The Department focuses on empowering local teams, which in turn ensure it is informed of any cases brought to their knowledge and may request advice as appropriate.

Employee awareness campaigns and training

All employees are trained in ethics and compliance matters, notably through an online training program consisting of 14 modules, each of which is broken down into theory, followed by practical applications in the form of questions and answers. The topics covered relate to all issues referred to in the Code of Business Conduct.

This training is an integral part of the on-boarding process for all new hires.

It is supplemented by specific training courses designed for the employees who are most exposed to intellectual property, corruption, export control and competition risks.

Gender Equality Index under French Law

As part of the Gender Equality Index, Dassault Systèmes SE achieved an overall score of 95 points out of 100.
As part of the Gender Equality Index, Dassault Data Services SAS achieved an overall score of 82 points out of 100.
As part of the Gender Equality Index, Dassault Systèmes Provence SAS achieved an overall score of 88 points out of 100.
