An interactive exhibition where technology meets humanity – and visitors shape the conversation
In the heart of Munich, the Deutsches Museum stands as one of the world's largest museums for science and technology. Its Forum of the Future is dedicated to exploring the technologies that are reshaping our world – and the ethical, societal, and environmental questions they raise.
This is where the Future Box lives. Conceived and co-created by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab, in partnership with the Deutsches Museum, it opened in March 2025 as a new kind of exhibition: part interactive tour, part AI experiment, part collective reflection.
The Future Box welcomes groups of up to 30 visitors at a time for a 90-minute guided journey through two thematic rooms. Each tour is built around a single, urgent question:
How will we use the latest innovations – balancing opportunities and risks – to shape our future?
The experience begins with a cinematic prologue that sets the tone for exploration. It ends around a futuristic campfire, where visitors share their hopes and reflections – and AI-generated imagery transforms those thoughts into visuals in real time, making every finale unique.
At the heart of the Future Box is AI-ME, an artificial intelligence framework developed by the 3DEXPERIENCE Lab and 3DEXCITE. She is the star of the show.
Alongside human guides, AI-ME welcomes visitors, introduces the exhibits, fields their questions, and challenges their assumptions about the ethical use of technology. Her personality – curious, warm, and probing – is by design: she doesn't just inform, she invites reflection.
Built on open-source foundations with a dual knowledge base – drawing on both the broader web and exhibit-specific content – AI-ME enables genuinely personalized learning journeys. Every tour is a different conversation.
"Us & Our Planet" – The Future of Our Living Space Earth is our only home, yet we are depleting its resources at an accelerating pace. This room asks how innovation can help us course-correct – and what trade-offs we are willing to make.
"Our Body & Society" – Health & Human Connections The human body is a marvel – complex, resilient, and vulnerable. This room explores how technology can extend, heal, and augment life, while raising questions about equity, identity, and what it means to be human.
The exhibits were carefully curated for both scientific depth and relevance to Dassault Systèmes' mission. They feature startups, scale-ups, and research initiatives – including OroraTech, Proxima Fusion, and Neura Robotics – alongside the Living Heart Project, a landmark initiative by Dassault Systèmes. Together, they offer a tangible demonstration of what virtual twin technology makes possible.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Lab is built to investigate new frontiers – generative AI, human-centered learning, the space where technology meets culture – and to ground Dassault Systèmes' belief that "the only progress is human".
The Deutsches Museum brought the institution, the audience, and the scientific rigor; we contributed the creative concept, the AI-ME framework, the exhibition artwork, and curatorial input on the exhibits. The result is less a sponsorship than a working demonstration of what innovation looks like when it's built for people, not just for performance.
