Multi-stakeholder Educational Partnerships
Dassault Systèmes, NOKIA, DLA Piper, IBM, SFR, the French NGO IMS – Entreprendre pour la Cité, and the European ENGAGE network, have established a partnership with the French Ministry of Education to set up an innovative syllabus for middle school students: the Mobi3 program.
The Mobi3 program provides students and teachers with hands-on experience concerning the professions and technologies involved in the lifecycle of a mobile phone. The program highlights the complementary role that each company has in this product’s lifecycle: 3DS in 3D design, Nokia in new product development, marketing and logistics, DLA Piper in intellectual property, IBM in mobile networks and SFR in commercialization. The choice of the mobile phone is also based on the fact that it is an object that forms part of the daily lives of students, boys and girls alike. As part of the program, student-teams will be asked to create a mobile phone – using 3DVIA Shape - as well as make proposals on how they would manage each phase of the phone’s lifecycle, with advice from employees from each of the participating companies, as per their expertise in each phase of the lifecycle of a mobile phone.

Middle and High Schools: inspiration for tomorrow’s engineers…
Dassault Systèmes is also engaged in several innovative projects to encourage middle and high-school kids to explore the world of 3D. The Australian non-profit organization Re-engineering Australia Forum organizes a competition for students to design a miniature racing car using CATIA. In 2007, Dassault Systèmes initiated its French equivalent “Course en Cours”, organized in partnership with the University of Versailles and recently joined by Renault and Renault Formula 1.
Exploring the rich possibilities of CATIA, DELMIA or SolidWorks can be pivotal to spurring students to pursue a career in engineering. To encourage this, DELMIA Corporation has partnered with the Oakland Schools Career Focused Education to assist in the development of an Academy of Digital Manufacturing for Oakland County students interested in engineering or manufacturing careers.
Dassault Systèmes has formalized its commitment with knowledge sharing by signing the Charter for Equal Opportunities drawn up by the French Ministry of Education.
University: driving innovation among tomorrow’s engineers…
3DS solutions help develop students’ creative skills for solving complex problems. To encourage students’ creativeness, 3DS is forging partnerships with universities around the world, including the Innovation Management Chair launched with the Ecole Polytechnique, one of France’s most prestigious engineering schools.
Continuing Education: tools for a fast-changing world…
3DS educational programs do not stop at formal education. 3DS is committed to increasing individuals’ employability through out their working lives, through investment in continuing education. A specific framework enables partners develop up-to-date adult education programs in the latest required by industry methods. The continuing education departments in Wichita State University (USA) and at the College Edouard Monpetit (Canada) or the Istanbul Chamber of Mechanical Engineers are the latest institutions joining the program.

Dassault Systèmes has entered into a partnership with the Detroit Science Center (DSC), whose mission is to inspire children and their families to discover and appreciate science, technology and engineering in a dynamic and fun learning environment.
At the DSC planetarium, through the advanced technology of the Digistar® II projection system, visitors can discover the wonder of nebulae, star clusters and the awesome power of a black hole.
Dassault Systèmes is taking part in the “Changer d’Ère” (A Change of Era) exhibit currently held at the Villette Science center in Paris. The event highlights the impact of our lifestyle on the environment and the importance of Eco-Design of everyday objects. The Group is showcasing the added value of 3DS PLM solutions for reducing the environmental footprint of everyday goods and activities.
Interactive 3D for Sustainable Marketing and Awareness Raising
Dassault Systèmes is addressing the environmental challenges of today by helping its clients reduce the carbon footprint of their products and processes; and facilitating compliance to environmental regulations. However, it is not only manufacturers who are part of this transformation towards leaner and cleaner production; consumers too have their role to play. With 3DVIA’s interactive on-line applications consumers can be part of a lifelike experience, in designing more sustainable products and packaging. The Sustainable Marketing Online Game, developed by Dassault Systemes, using 3DVIA technology, is an interactive 3D demo with the objective of showing marketers that environmental criteria can be a part of consumers’ choice of product, and that in view of the vast amount of information that consumers must deal with, these criteria should be clearly communicated. The game is part of the Sustainable Marketing Toolkit developed by BT, CSR Europe and several of its member companies.
