Workshop Life

Ayse Birsel is an award-winning product designer, Fulbright scholar, Deconstruction/Reconstruction thinker and Design the Life You Love expert.

"Welcome to the “Life Workshop” for Dassault Systèmes.

The “Life Workshop” is at the intersection of my two passions:
1.    Our lives are a design project, and possibly our most important.
2.    Creative and innovative thinking can be systematic and intuitive, methodical and full of imagination, and applied to determine intangible as well as tangible experiences.

To this latter point I have been working on Deconstruction and Reconstruction™ (De/Re™), a design thinking and strategy process for the design of products and user experiences. Along the way, I started experimenting with applying these creative tools to one’s life, out of which “Design the Life You Love” workshops were born, open to non-designers as well as designers (read more: www.huffingtonpost.com/linda-tischler/forget-new-years-resoluti_b_798710.html).

At Strate Collège, I will share with you the creative steps in De/Re™, like Deconstruction, Point of View and Reconstruction, in the context of Life Design. My role is to inspire you to break your preconceptions and shift your perspective to explore Life as a hierarchy of finite choices, where dichotomy resolution leads to value creation. In doing so, we will use your life as a pretext to thinking about Life Design, expanding from the microcosm of one’s life to a broader understanding of the interconnectivity of life on the planet.

Our goal, with Anne Asensio, is to explore the designers’ role in Life Design. We hope the workshop will be the beginning of a bigger journey that we can all continue beyond our afternoon together.

Looking forward to meeting you!"

Workshop City

Alain Renk is an architect planner in charge of imaginary chair pattern at Telecom ParisTech.

We will build a dynamic and hybrid city.

The city is thought to exist only with regard to some ideal model, of which it is a mere reflection, its value depending entirely on this ideal model to which it aspires to correspond. As if the city should vary only within an ideal enclosure. Like in telamon architecture : here’s the temple, there’s the obelisk, and further along is the forum… Pile up, juxtapose, and above all, keep inside the enclosure.
But the city craves transformation : is shifting, transforming, hybridizing necessarily about taking a loss, increasing the imperfection?

Workshop Mobility

Dominique Levent is in charge of Design at Renault.

Dominique Levent joined Renault in 1981 as a research engineer working on thermal comfort in cars.Dominique now specialized in Innovation Management and Innovative Prospection. As the Director of the Creativity / Vision entity, she currently manages a department whose mission is both forward-looking (20-year horizon) and broad through grasping the evolutions of the entire mobility ecosystem.

Mobility has become a cornerstone of our physical and digital lives. As we stay connected non-stop via smart phones and smart objects, we are free to move while remaining in touch and active.
With the expansion of electric mobility, the concept of “connectivity” will extend to energy. We are entering a new era of “Transmodality” where synergies between modes of transport, information flow, and energy flow are shaping the boundaries of a new society.
Georges Amar, Manager of the innovative prospection and development division at the RATP, will share with us his vision of this new paradigm.
Following his lecture, we will collectively look at these new dimensions and explore how they will apply in the future.

Workshop Sustainability

Frédéric Jentgen is Designer and Director of Jentgen Design.

How to combine beauty and necessity, business and ethics, respect for the group and for the individual, environment and development?
How to challenge preconceptions without losing our bearings?
How to discover, understand, and change opinions?

Through the exploration of new creative paths, I will share all these questions with you in our “Sustainable and Desirable” Workshop. Anne and I share the same vision about the major role played by new digital tools. More than ever, these tools will help us meet the creative challenges of a material and immaterial world on the move.
I like designing products, packaging, “Sustainable and Desirable” brand environments. This approach integrates a global vision that makes conceptual thinking more complex and leads us to reconsider matter via the immaterial to reach new objectives. It is probably these new digital tools that will help us better see the immersed part of the iceberg and better preserve the living. “Design In Life”.
