Synopsys’ SaberES Designer™ provides an integrated process for electrical system design from concept to manufacturing. Redundant data entry is nearly eliminated fostering correct-by-construction and first-pass success. SaberES Designer is used to author electrical connectivity and design content and then populates the CATIA 3D model with wires, connectivity, connectors, splices, harnesses, etc. After the wire harness is routed in CATIA, wire lengths, layout, positions, and mechanical passives can be passed back to the Saber environment for simulation and manufacturing outputs to suppliers. The close, two-way integration greatly improves product quality and engineering productivity.

Integrating ENOVIA and SAP is not an easy task, in particular if there is data that may be changed on both systems and must be synchronized between them. While The ENOVIA Event Bus, together with the xPDM adapters, provides the technical solution to do this, the different data models and process paradigms present a challenge of their own. Knowledge of both sides of the gap and experience in transforming the data from far over 50 customer projects give T-Systems a unique position to satisfy customer needs. Functions The ENOVIA "Send to xPDM", used either from the VPM product structure or an engineering BOM, sends the data to SAP to create or update the corresponding items. Optionally, it provides an interactive SAP function for the reverse transfer. BOMs are transferred as single- or multi-level, depending on your company’s preferred settings. Event-triggered operation is possible as a project-implemented feature. Characteristics The ENOVIA-side business logic is provided by the ENOVIA components involved and can be customized to the level they allow. The SAP-side business logic is provided by the SAP adapter that is the main component of the integration. It can be customized to a high degree, including scripted attribute mapping. The SAP adapter, core component of the integration, runs as an independent web application. To use the standard functionality, no installation in either ENOVIA or SAP is necessary. All transfers are done via a system of gateways and adapters that provide message and file exchange via web services. Data transfer and synchronization are asynchronous.Note: As of V6R2014, ENOVIA does not offer to transfer change objects (ECR/ECO). This function can be provided on a project basis.

Multi-CAD enables CATIA users who receive and create JT data to work with and share data between CATIA and applications which can consume or create JT data, it is available in uni-directional and bi-directional versions.For the CATIA user it provides the added ability to work in Multi-CAD mode enabling associative design in context. In this mode it maintains an associative link back to the source JT data and ensures JT remains the master data source in this mode.In Translator mode it provides bi-directional translation between JT and CATIA in batch and interactively. The translation process supports a rich set of data including product structure, part data, attributes and FTA (PMI) information, making it an ideal tool for Model Based Definition use.When used interactively inside CATIA it enables the user to do open and insert existing component with JT files.The ChallengeFaced with the need to use both CATIA V5 and JT data to complete a single product design and manufacturing task a designer has the choice of a number of different approaches to the problem.The traditional approach is to translate the JT data to CATIA V5, using either a standards based method such as STEP or a direct database translator. In doing so the original JT data is converted to a CATIA V5 representation. There are several downsides to this approach. One is recognizing when a design change takes place which has resulted in a new JT file and managing the process ofupdating the CATIA V5 representation to take into account those changes following completion of the initial translation process.
