Zuken Joins Dassault Systemes’ V5 Software Community Program
Tokyo and Paris, 11 July 2001—Zuken Inc. (TSE 1st Section 6947), a world leader in software solutions for PCB design, advanced IC Packaging and Electromechanical design and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announce a Software Community Program (SCP) agreement under which Zuken, as a Gold Partner, will provide a strategic component of the end-to-end V5 PLM electromechanical solution. Zuken will deliver V5 interfaced and integrated solutions addressing the logical steps of the cabling design through their leading Cabling Designer product. DS will focus more than ever on the 3d definition of the wire harnesses, their manufacturability and their Lifecycle Management through its extensive V5 PLM electromechanical portfolio. ZUKEN and DS’ primary targeted markets are the Automotive and E/E industries. Together with its partners DS is building on the V5 technology the most comprehensive electromechanical solution available today.
ZUKEN’s leading engineering logical cable design software “Cabling Designer” provides unique variance and hierarchical capabilities to ensure a perfect simulation of the systems being designed. This tight integration between DS’ PLM V5 solutions and ZUKEN’s Cabling Designer promote flexibility to experiment and innovate at the earliest stages of the design process, to eliminate the costly design errors typically associated with two separate and disparate logical design, physical design and manufacturing environments. It ultimately delivers designs that minimize time-to-market in key manufacturing industries.
DS’ Electromechanical V5 solutions for cabling are perfectly complemented by ZUKEN’s Cabling designer. DS has been delivering, for the past decade, leading-edge design and manufacturing integrated cabling solutions, consistently with its PLM strategy. DS is in the process of delivering a complete next generation cabling solution leveraging V5 innovations. This solution will cover the end-to-end processes from logical – by ZUKEN – to generative rule based physical design, to generative rule based manufacturing, engineering and documentation, to after sales and maintenance. A key differentiator for this solution is its total integration with DS’ B2B Collaborative Portal solutions powered by ENOVIA. The complete solution will be delivered as products throughout DS’ PLM brands, CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA to our global customers and their extended supply chains.
“The strategic alliance between Zuken and Dassault Systemes offers a revolutionary solution for electromechanical design,” said Jinya Katsube, Chief Operating Officer of Zuken, Inc. “Combining DS’ electrical cabling PLM expertise with Zuken’s electronic design automation (EDA) and consulting (Z-Consulting) expertise will enable us to leverage our large customer bases for a win-win solution. Zuken expects its business related to Dassault Systemes software and services to generate a multi-million dollar business."

Dominique Florack, Dassault Systemes Executive Vice President, Research and Development, said, “DS’ partnership with ZUKEN is a key response to our customers’ strategic requirements to get the best-in-class integrated cabling solution. In supplying an end-to-end, database driven, generative, collaborative, knowledge based design environment, we will provide our customers, with a unique competitive advantage. ZUKEN’s endorsement of DS’ V5 strategy demonstrates again DS’ commitment to better serve, with leading partners in their respective domains, the manufacturing industries.”
