TransCAT Joins the Dassault Systemes Software Community Program as a Software Partner

Integration of VDAFS-Processor CAA V5 Based and Q-Checker CAA V5 Based within CATIA V5

 

Paris (France), January 31, 2002 – Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announced today that TransCAT, a long-time Dassault Systemes business and software partner, has joined the Software Community Program as a Partner. Through this agreement, TransCAT will develop and sell two products leveraging the V5 Knowledge infrastructure. They will offer data quality checking capabilities for CATIA V5, thus allowing perfect industry standard compliancy for 3d PLM users. These two products, VDAFS-Processor CAA V5 Based & Q-Checker CAA V5 Based, will ensure seamless exchange of high quality data within the customers’ enterprise, suppliers and OEM. <br/>

 

 

Dassault Systemes is delivering natively through the V5 architecture, a state-of-the-art Knowledge-empowered platform which provides a unique way to specify generic rules and checks, to ensure compliancy with best practices and easily deploy and increase Quality Assurance with the 3d PLM Customers’ Extended Enterprise. Within this Knowledgeware Portfolio, CATIA Knowledge Expert 2 is the V5 standard offering for rule checking : it enables customers to build up and share their own corporate knowledge in rules-driven databases, apply them on specific designs, apply some specific healing processes and generate relevant quality reports. <br/>

 

 

Through this partnership, TransCAT will take full advantage of the V5 architecture in developing VDAFS-Processor CAA V5 Based & Q-Checker CAA V5 Based. <br/>

 

 

The first product, VDAFS CAA V5 Based, will support import and export of 3D CATIA V5 models (Wireframe, Surface and Solid geometry) according to the VDAFS-2.0 standard.  This standard, featuring key quality requirements for the Automotive German industry will enable a seamless & controlled data exchange with all CAD systems & applications ensuring perfect quality compliancy & avoiding extra times spent in designs corrections.  Based on the open V5 Architecture, this product will be fully integrated within CATIA V5 allowing an easy, intuitive and simple interactive use or batch data transfer. <br/>

 

 

The second product, Q-Checker CAA V5 Based, will add off-the-shelf quality rule bases on top of this V5 Knowledge offer and deliver ready-to-use set of checks able to comply with international geometry quality standards (VDA 4955, JAMA, AIAG) as well as company proprietary own standards (LAYER distribution, name conventions, etc.). <br/>

 

 

By ensuring these compliances, Q-Checker helps validate & certify data, thus suppressing the necessary quality control work that needs to be performed between downstream applications along the supply chain between OEM’s and their subsequent supplier. The Q-Checker can therefore be used before and/or after every data exchange along the supply chain as well as during design changes to ensure safe concurrent engineering. <br/>

 

 

By combining DS Knowledgeware products and TransCAT V5 applications, customers benefit from a unique federated Knowledge-based environment covering full Quality Assurance process management. For instance, using Knowledge Expert P2 in conjunction with Q-Checker, customers can enrich the approximately 200 check criteria provided by Q-Checker with their own corporate rules and have them verified simultaneously. Thanks to knowledgeware unified platform, V5 turns into a unique certification environment taking into account heterogeneous & multi-disciplines criteria and bringing users industry level validation tools. <br/>
