Spatial Announces Release of 3D ACIS Modeler Version 8.0
Westminster, CO – May 13, 2002 – Spatial Corp., a market-leading provider of 3D development technologies, today announced the release of the 8.0 version of their 3D ACIS Modeler (ACIS) product. The current release signifies even greater increases in quality and robustness than previous releases by delivering over a 20% performance increase on Windows platforms, an additional 25% performance increase when using Pentium 4 processors and Intel compilers, and improvements in tolerant modeling, versioning, and faceting functionality. In addition support for the Intel Itanium and Solaris 64-bit platforms have been included and more customer issues have been addressed in the latest version than in any other release of ACIS.
“With ACIS 8.0 Spatial has delivered a product driven more by partner feedback than at any other time in ACIS’s history,” said Phil Spreier, product manager, 3D modeling, Spatial. “We focused on improving our tolerant modeling functionality to ensure that ACIS functions will work with models created with less precise modeling kernels; we increased the robustness of existing functionality such as faceting, blending, and stitching; and we delivered a version that is 20% - 40% faster than our last release. ACIS 8.0 has been designed with our partners in mind, including the increased versioning support which allows partners to upgrade to the latest release without worrying whether parts created in older versions of ACIS can be regenerated in ACIS 8.0.”
“Spatial’s partner focus has matured over the last two years, resulting in products of vastly increased performance and quality,” said Dr. Shimon Friedman, VP Research & Development at Cimatron, a market leader in CAD/CAM solutions for the Tooling Industry, “With the 8.0 release of ACIS, they have once again demonstrated their commitment to quality by delivering a technically superior product – one that I am eager to tell our customers we are using.”
“Our partners are just as responsible for the continued success of ACIS as we are,” added said Didier Bourcier, vice president, research and development, Spatial. “We have increased our emphasis on overall quality and ensuring our partners feedback is consistently incorporated into our product development process. This collaborative effort has created a superior product aimed at meeting our partners needs while at the same time delivering state-of-the-art technology to the market.”
