MicroTurbo Goes Hi-tech with Product Lifecycle Management Solutions from IBM and Dassault Systemes

A Small Medium Business Aerospace Supplier Belonging to the SNECMA Group, MicroTurbo Deploys 42 CATIA V5 and SMARTEAM Seats to Improve its Product Development Processes

 

Daratech Summit 2002, New York and Toulouse, France.  February 26, 2002. – MicroTurbo, an aerospace supplier specializing in the development and production of turbines, today announced that it will deploy IBM and Dassault Systemes’ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, beginning with 42 seats of both CATIA V5 product design software and SMARTEAM product data management solutions, to be run on the Windows NT platform.  This agreement also covers technical assistance and training to be provided by IBM and Dassault Systemes.  MicroTurbo’s new PLM environmentwill allow MicroTurbo to create, analyze and produce turbines and manage the entire cycle of its product development. <br/>

 

 

A major player in the aerospace industry for over 40 years, MicroTurbo is among the top turbine producers worldwide and is number one in Europe.  MicroTurbo’s products are used in many airplanes and helicopters and are also used for missile and target propulsion.  With over 11,000 manufactured turbines, MicroTurbo has recently reinforced its activity by joining the SNECMA group, one of the world’s largest engine manufacturers and aerospace suppliers. <br/>

 

 

MicroTurbo decided in 2000 to further enhance and develop its CAD/CAM/CAE environment and improve the management of its product design data.  To achieve this strategic objective, MicroTurbo needed to rely on the expert advice from its solution integrators, Dassault Systemes and IBM, in order to understand and optimize its use of PLM technology and product data management applications and to reduce the implementation time frame.<br/>

After an industrial pilot project, including extensive testing of multiCAD translation capabilities, MicroTurbo found that CATIA V5 fully met its needs in terms of complex system design engineering.  SMARTEAM solutions, which integrate completely with CATIA V5, also passed the MicroTurbo evaluation, demonstrating its capacity to manage all product data generated during the development process of the project. <br/>
