Lamborghini Selects CATIA Solutions for Exotic Sports Car Development
Bologne (Italy) and Paris (France) April 5, 2001 – Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., manufacturer of some of the world’s most renowned performance cars, IBM and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announced today that Lamborghini has selected CATIA Solutions as its strategic computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) system. The agreement includes not only the purchase of CATIA software licenses, but also IBM training and IBM services. Lamborghini will implement CATIA in the areas of body and chassis design as well as for interior trim components. <br/>
Lamborghini selected CATIA for its proven capability to reduce the development cycle time, and to ensure and maintain the high quality of its products. CATIA will enable Lamborghini to design parts and assemblies in real-time across internal teams and in cooperation with suppliers. The company will be able to work more efficiently, and respond faster to its customers needs. Designers will capture information once in CATIA, which with then be propagated throughout the development process. CATIA’s integrated, user-friendly products will reduce the risk of design error and improve productivity. <br/>
