IBM Corporation Completes its worldwide Implementation of ENOVIA Solutions
ENOVIA Corp. announced today that IBM has completed its worldwide implementation of the ENOVIAPM software application.
Charlotte, North Carolina, July 9, 1999--With an estimated 5,000 users in more than 30 locations around the world, IBM’s successful deployment of ENOVIAPM is the ultimate validation that ENOVIA’s technology, reliability and product support can efficiently support global engineering and manufacturing enterprises.
In addition, this implementation represents another example of the IBM Corporation using the products that it markets and sells. By doing so, IBM gains a better understanding of the challenges facing today's companies.
Lew Kimmel is the worldwide program director for IBM’s Personal Systems Group, product development business transformation organization, headquartered in the Research Triangle Park near Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Kimmel comments: "Personal Systems Group has implemented ENOVIAPM Web client in Raleigh, Yamato, Japan, and Greenock, Scotland. About 30 percent of our 1000 users are remote. The ability to use ENOVIAPM in a multi-site, worldwide environment has allowed us to move engineering data into manufacturing in near real time, a process that previously took four days. This will shorten our time to market and improve the quality of our communication."
The ENOVIAPM integration with SAP products has allowed IBM to improve its overall cycle time - a critical success factor in IBM’s competitive environment, according to Mr. Kimmel. The ENOVIA installation also serves as a central repository for all engineering changes, items, product and bill of material data containing well over 100 million design records.
"ENOVIAPM is helping IBM reduce the time we are spending in recreating and interpreting engineering data by about 50 percent. It’s a strategic application for IBM." says Johnny Barnes, Director of Hardware Common Tools for IBM. "We now have design, manufacturing, commodity and cost engineers, product planners, procurement experts and others electronically integrated into the release process."
Joel Lemke, ENOVIA Chief Executive Officer, comments: "The IBM implementation is proof that companies can gain significant value from a corporate deployment of ENOVIA’s technology. It takes a quality product with proven scalability to meet the rigorous requirements of a global corporation like IBM. We are pleased that ENOVIAPM’s functional richness and technical depth has helped IBM achieve millions of dollars in annual savings and productivity improvements."
