Paris, France – 23 July, 2002 – IBM and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today announced a joint sales and marketing growth plan to take advantage of the increasing business opportunities generated by the rapidly expanding Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) market. The growth plan underscores IBM and Dassault Systemes’ commitment to addressing customer needs in the growing PLM market. Under the agreement, IBM will increase sales and pre-sales resources significantly. The agreement calls for Dassault Systemes to dedicate 135 technical specialists who will support IBM sales teams and continue to develop the seamless integration of 3D PLM products including CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA, and SMARTEAM.
Together with their Business Partners, IBM PLM and Dassault Systemes are strongly positioned to serve customers requiring PLM solutions in a wide variety of market segments. Following recent important customer wins such as Toyota, Volvo Truck, and EADS, the two companies are gearing up resources to address customer demand in the expanding PLM market.
“Our joint growth strategy clearly illustrates our confidence in the fast-growing PLM market and our determination to exploit our competitive advantage to the mutual benefit of IBM and Dassault Systemes,” said Ed Petrozelli, General Manager of IBM PLM. “This initiative also indicates that after 20 years of fruitful collaboration, our alliance with Dassault Systemes is more productive and stronger than ever. “
“With our customers, we created the PLM vision and strategy as the next breakthrough to digitally create, produce and support manufactured products. With Version 5, we are delivering it. Today’s announcement is a milestone, as it confirms our commitment to realize 3D PLM and continue to reshape the market together,” said Bernard Charles, President of Dassault Systemes.
