IBM and Dassault Systemes Announce ENOVIA Portfolio 2: Core Solutions of PLM Strategy
New 3D Portal brings e-business to product lifecycle management, improving collaboration across the extended enterprise for optimized product, process and resource modeling and management.
Paris (France) and Charlotte, North Carolina (USA), 21 June 2000--IBM and Dassault Systemes announced today the general availability of ENOVIA Portfolio 2, a set of new and enhanced product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions that support e-business throughout the digital enterprise. As a core solution for IBM’s Product Lifecycle Management, ENOVIA Portfolio 2 enables small and large companies to increase innovation, optimize product lifecycle costs, and address new markets with evolving business models.
ENOVIA Portfolio 2 enables complete integration of the B2B alliance of IBM partners Dassault Systemes, i2 Technologies, and Siebel Systems.
It provides users with a major 3D Internet portal for B2B, serving as a window to the digital enterprise, while new interoperability features provide seamless links among product, process and resource modeling and management activities across the extended enterprise.
ENOVIA Portfolio 2 builds on the five ENOVIA Foundations announced in September 1999.
ENOVIA Portfolio 2 comprises the following products lines: ENOVIAVPM Version 1 Release 3, ENOVIAPM Version 3 Release 4, and ENOVIA Portal V5R4 including ENOVIA 3d com Navigator and ENOVIA DMU Navigator.
ENOVIA Portal Solutions give users a single entry point to digital enterprise information, which helps protect information system investments and provide a common platform for improved collaboration and decision support across the product development supply chain. ENOVIAvpm and ENOVIApm comprise the industry’s richest set of interoperable product development life cycle applications. They enable users to optimize modeling by managing product, process and resource business intelligence in specialized Product-Process-Resource (PPR) hubs.
Said Martin Jetter, general manager, IBM product lifecycle management, "The ENOVIA Portfolio 2 gives users the infrastructure to integrate processes thoughout the company and across the entire enterprise, including with suppliers, partners and even dealerships. This means that our customers have not only innovative products and solutions but, more importantly, they gain operational speed and efficiency. And that will make them more competitive in today’s marketplace."
Joel Lemke, chief executive officer of ENOVIA Corp., commented: "This new version of ENOVIA Portfolio illustrates our continued commitment to optimizing our customers’ investments. The new ENOVIA Portal Solutions give a unique entry point to the digital enterprise, introducing the concept of a professional 3D Web-based window into the workplace, and implementing the latest research in user interface design. Users of our solutions can model and manage their products, processes and manufacturing resources seamlessly across the entire product lifecycle, from anywhere in the extended enterprise".
"By using e-business solutions at the product development level of the manufacturing process, we will create a better aircraft faster and at lower cost," said Jim O'Neill, chief engineer, Boeing JSF Structures and Systems. "In the competitive battle we are in with the JSF program, we rely on these latest releases of CATIA and ENOVIA to give us a competitive edge. We are confident that we selected the right applications for our future. Our JSF team members IBM and Dassault Systemes are working closely with us to fully integrate these releases with the best practices and processes of The Boeing Company to fully leverage the digital enterprise on the JSF."
"IBM’s PLM unit will offer solutions for problems that every business, small, medium or large will encounter at some point. As a CATIA and ENOVIA customer, we are pleased to see that they are integrating these solutions with the latest in CRM and SCM", says Larry Delp, Director of Engineering Systems, Bosch Braking Systems-Americas, Robert Bosch Gmbh.
"ENOVIA Portfolio Release 2 provides a solid enhancement to the Portfolio offering, with both the expanded portal capabilities as well as enhancements to the two major application ENOVIAVPM and ENOVIAPM. In combination with IBM's general e-business capabilities, this new release further enhances their ability to support companies seeking to become digital enterprises," added Ed Miller, President, CIMdata.
