Global provider of integrated automation solutions, RTS, chooses SMARTEAM for enterprise Product Lifecycle Management

PLM solution to drive efficiency and time-to-market through best practice design and component reuse

London - October 7, 2003 - SmarTeam Corporation Ltd, a Dassault Systèmes company (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) and leading provider of innovative collaborative product development and lifecycle management solutions, announced today that RTS has chosen SMARTEAM® as its enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. The system has been supplied by Cadtek Systems Ltd, who will also provide ongoing implementation, training and support to RTS.

RTS specialises in the design and delivery of integrated, built-to-order automation solutions for scientific, environmental, manufacturing and process applications. Headquartered in Manchester, England, with four offices in North America, the company comprises seven key business groups, each specialising in the needs of a particular world market or technology area. RTS will soon begin a pilot implementation of the SMARTEAM solution across two of its seven business groups.

RTS expects its SMARTEAM solution to facilitate more efficient use of existing data and shorten time to market. “We’re after better configuration management and operational efficiency,” said John Potier, CIO, RTS Group. “But at a strategic level we’re looking at improved design and component reuse because that will save RTS a lot of money and our customers a lot of time.”

“We will be using SMARTEAM to manage all data and processes associated with the design, build and configuration of our systems, through to shipping and maintenance,” said Potier. “Because we are a systems integrator, this includes commercially procured components as well as the software and customised components that make our solutions unique.”

RTS Group chose SMARTEAM after analyzing its IT strategy and identifying PLM as a core requirement. “We wrote a spec, went out and evaluated the market place and selected SMARTEAM,” said Potier. “We had about 60 criteria and SMARTEAM scored best.”
