Exalead®, a global provider of search and information access software for the enterprise and the Web, announced today that the Editions Lefebvre Sarrut Group, the leader in law publishing and training in France, has chosen Exalead CloudView software as its group-wide search and information navigation platform. A number of CloudView-based services have already been deployed on the sites of Dalloz (dalloz.fr), Editions Legislatives (editions-legislatives.fr and elnet.fr), and Editions Francis Lefebvre (efl.fr), as well as on subscriber portals. Over the course of this collaboration, which began two years ago, several projects critical to the group have come to fruition, and many innovative projects for the future have begun.
A versatile platform that offers total satisfaction
The business of law publishing demands that clients are offered high quality information and the means to access it easily and instantaneously, and this despite the fact that the volume of available information is increasing exponentially, and the rate at which information is updated is extremely rapid (comments, articles, news, jurisprudence, laws, regulations, etc.) "We were seeking a partner who could accompany us in our move to the digital realm and offer our clients, who are well-versed in research, the means to explore our significant information assets, or even new ways to use them," explains Rudi MESOTTEN, Executive Director of the ELS Group's publishing arm.
"With Exalead, which we chose after an in-depth market study, we found the solution we needed: robust enough to scale; flexible enough to address all of our information access issues, both internal and external; and stable, particularly compared to the tools we were using before."
Many more projects in the pipeline
In collaboration with Jouve, AtosWorldline and TEMIS, the Editions Lefebvre Sarrut teams are currently working on new value-added services. Driven to get the most out of the CloudView's potential and to create a new generation of semantic applications in the field of law, they have already launched a new service that offers significant added value: "Jurisprudence Chiffrée" (Encrypted Jurisprudence).
Jurisprudence Chiffrée is a database that can be accessed online and which allows professionals to perform relevant, "surgical" searches among the tens of thousands of decisions of the courts of appeals, by topic, to find the case law that most relevant to their needs. This novel approach represents, to the best of our knowledge, the first time a law publisher has been able to so fully exploit case law decisions, which are the foundation of law, using semantic text mining and a professional knowledge base. "Our mission is evolving every day, and Exalead's semantic features allow us to devise simple and intuitive services that offer direct access to data while providing contextualized, aggregated and meaningful information to legal professionals," explains Nicole CHEBASSIER, Director of Multimedia Production and Quality at Editions Francis Lefebvre. "The Law Publishing market is very competitive, and innovation is essential both to guarantee that our existing users are satisfied and also to enlarge our client portfolio to include less specialized users," concludes Rudi MESOTTEN.
"We're thrilled to see our clients moving beyond traditional search engines and using our technology to develop innovative new services. It's a perfect example of how well adapted Search-Based Applications are for use by specific professions, in this case, the field of law," adds Alain Cotte, President of Exalead.
