DELMIA Corp. Hosts International Digital Manufacturing Conference User Group 2000

DELMIA Corp. held last month its annual User Group Conference at The Michigan State University Management Education Center, Troy, Michigan. This was DELMIA's first comprehensive International Digital Manufacturing Conference combining the best-in-class portfolios of Deneb Robotics Inc., DELTA GmbH and SAFEWORK to present the latest breakthroughs in Digital Manufacturing process design and optimization.

Troy, Michigan, USA, November 30, 2000--Customers learned how their peers are forging ahead with the latest DELMIA technologies and gaining unprecedented manufacturing optimizations, like dramatic reductions in lead times, 100 percent robot program accuracies and the elimination of hundreds of thousands of dollars of unnecessary production tooling build errors.

David Richards, Vice President, Americas Sales, for DELMIA stated, "At this User Group, we had almost 500 registered attendees, representing some 150 different organizations, from 14 different countries. This was truly a demonstration of our customers' desire to spend time working together and sharing their success using DELMIA solutions to realize true business advantage."

To kick off the conference, the annual welcome reception was held at the Embassy Suites in Troy. Customers enjoyed mixing with fellow users and DELMIA Representatives.

David Richards opened the conference welcoming two exciting Keynote speakers who discussed the latest issues and advancements in Digital Manufacturing. These notable speakers were Clif Triplett, Global Produce Product Information Officer from General Motors and Jerry Grammer, Manager Manufacturing Engineering - Virtual Manufacturing - DMAPS from The Boeing Company. Clif Triplett’s presentation was entitled "Eliminating Waste Through Agreement "while Jerry Grammer presented "Virtual manufacturing-Expanding the Limits."

This year, DELMIA offered industry targeted tracks for Automotive, Electronics, Aerospace and Shipbuilding, as well as general interest user presentations, to offer users a broader range of presentations at one time. Customers were able to pick a specific track, or feel free to wander between presentations to tailor the conference to their needs. "The success of the first DELMIA user forum demonstrates the growing demand for our new brand DELMIA and the rapid development of its worldwide implementation," said Philippe Charlès CEO, DELMIA.

DELMIA's development leaders led an in-depth discussion of new version features and enhancements followed by the traditional Q&A period in a more intimate setting. The remainder of the sessions was devoted to product workshops designed to enhance skills and bring customers new levels of productivity.

Victor Rhoder, Director of Education and Training for DELMIA, developed a special track where educators and education partners could learn about developing high-technology curriculum for their classrooms. A welcome reception, hosted by key educators, was held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Troy, to allow fellow educators to meet and mingle with their peers and learn how they are implementing technology into their classrooms.

Victor Rhoder expressed, "This year's Education & Training Forum was the best ever. We dedicated a whole day for this topic. Representatives worldwide from education and industry were able to see concrete successes of simulation in the classroom. Most importantly, a forum for sharing best practices and creating partnerships is now in place to continue support for the next generation simulation workforce."

DELMIA, with its School-to-Work programs, has a unique heritage among simulation companies for educational contributions in the K-12 grades, and DELMIA software is used extensively among colleges and universities. Educators and education partners learned how their companies or organizations could become an education partner with DELMIA, and share in the formation of instructional programs. Representatives of commercial training organizations, users and educational institutions were welcome. Brief presentations that highlighted the successes and potential of simulation-based solutions were given, and a Round Table provided further opportunity for sharing.
