Prize for European businesses acknowledges DS’s achievements

Paris, France, October 5, 2005 – Dassault Systèmes (DS) (NASDAQ: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) has been awarded the prize for innovation (category: businesses with less than 1.5 bn euros annual revenue) at the second edition of the prestigious ‘Prix de l’Entreprise Européenne’ (European Business Awards) this week. Jean-Cyril Spinetta, Chief Executive of Air France-KLM, presented the award to Dominique Florack, Executive Vice President, Research & Development, Dassault Systèmes.

The ‘Prix de l’Entreprise Européenne’ awards were an initiative created in 2004 by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, the HEC Group and the monthly business magazine Enjeux-Les Echos, to recognize the best-performing European businesses in terms of growth, innovation and creation of added-value.

“By recognizing Dassault Systèmes in the Innovation category, the jury was clearly acknowledging the company’s dynamic advancement on the international and technical fronts,” noted Stéphane Albernhe, Senior Partner at Roland Berger. “Today Dassault Systèmes is revolutionizing the processes of new product design. The world leader in its market, this high-tech company founded in France has successfully made a name for itself on the international scene as well as in Europe, by building on the strength of its European roots. Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is particularly pleased to award this prize to Dassault Systèmes.”

Innovation: at the heart of DS’s activities

“Innovation is at the heart of DS’s existence,” confirmed Dominique Florack. “Since our inception it has inspired our R&D activities, based on our clients’ need for innovation in the face of ever-increasing competition. The power of Dassault Systèmes 3D digital solutions opens new business perspectives for enterprises: supporting product excellence, industrial performance and worldwide collaboration. It is a great honor and a pleasure to see our commitment and passion for innovation publicly recognized.”

DS’s focus on innovation is also illustrated by the company’s participation, with other industry partners, in the creation of a Chair in the Management of Innovation at the Ecole Polytechnique, the most prestigious engineering school in France. Officially to be launched on October 28, the project will foster teaching and research at the Ecole Polytechnique’s Business Research Center. R&D and strategy teams from DS will collaborate to enrich the curriculum.
