Dassault Systemes Welcomes a new Partner into the Software Community Program: Vision Numeric

Vision Numeric will deliver CATIA V5 integrated solutions that best meet the ever-increasing requirements of industrial engraving and sculpting

Paris (France), March 26, 2002 – Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), announced today that Vision Numeric SA, a leading software provider in the industrial engraving and sculpting domain, has joined the Software Community Program (SCP) as a Partner. Through this partnership agreement, Vision Numeric will develop and sell a component of the end-to-end 3D PLM ‘Style to Manufacturing’ Solution for mold makers, packaging industry or jewelry among others. Vision Numeric will deliver CATIA V5 integrated solutions that best meet the ever-increasing requirements in the field of industrial engraving and sculpting. With its partners, Dassault Systemes is building on the V5 technology the most comprehensive solution available today for the above-mentioned industrial domains.

Vision Numeric has accumulated extensive expertise and know-how in computer software development for the design and manufacturing of graphical objects and typographic engraving, particularly required for the demanding jewellery, watch-making, fashion, perfumery or tableware industries. Vision Numeric’s solution is a critical step to bridge between graphic arts specialists, who create the communication message, and professional machinists, who manufacture the finished product. The company is developing a V5 integrated application to provide CATIA V5 customers with easy-to-use engraving and sculpting capabilities. This product called “Type3 CAA V5 Based” is dedicated to designers and mould-makers from any activities where communication can be established or enhanced by enriching industrial parts with shapes, designs, logos…or where accurate and graphical text or numbering or logo are needed for personalization and identification. CATIA V5 customers will benefit from new powerful graphical and artistic 2D & 3D composition functionalities, together with import formats (graphical and mechanical) and a possibility to plug-in Twain scanners. They can also take advantage of the various 3D artistic designs (Type Art).

CATIA V5 has already drawn great attention from the Consumer Goods industry with its next-generation user interface, hybrid modeling, intuitive dynamic surface sculpting, and advanced 3D design of complex shapes in full?scale digital mock-ups. Dassault Systemes’ solutions cover the end-to-end “style to manufacturing” process, enabling rapid concept evaluation and rapid style change propagation throughout tooling design and manufacturing, leading to increased innovation, reduced time to market and closer adherence to customer requirements.

By combining CATIA V5 and “Type3 CAA V5 Based”, designers will benefit from the best solutions to meet the ever-increasing requirements in the field of industrial engraving and sculpting by streamlining their design and manufacturing processes and make their production far more cost-effective. At the same time, they will be able to preserve the true artistic dimension of their work.

“Dassault Systemes is committed to serving the needs of the Consumer Goods industry, through partnerships with leading actors such as Vision Numeric" , said Philippe Laufer – Shape Design & Styling Solutions Director, Dassault Systemes. " They provide a first-class solution that perfectly fits within our strategy ‘The power of 3D for all, everywhere, anytime’. It therefore meets the ever-growing demand for communication and advertising through industrial products and parts. Vision Numeric Partnership endorsement confirms V5 as the standard in 3D PLM software development, serving the global consumer goods markets” .
