Dassault Systèmes Unveils “Billions, Save Them All” at GDC 2010; New Social Game Transports Players to the Dreamlike 3D World of the Mogaloo
SAN FRANCISCO – March 10, 2010 - Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D solutions, today unveiled “Billions, Save Them All,” an engaging and addictive Facebook game and the first title created using the new 3DVIA Studio development platform. The game is made unique by combining a surreal, almost dreamlike art style with the concept of social development—tapping into the community to complete and extend the title. Interested 3D artists and programmers are invited to download the game source code and contribute ideas.
Visitors to this year’s Game Developer Conference (GDC 2010) can play the game and speak with the game’s creators in the 3DVIA booth (#1432). A functional prototype with several full levels will made available to play online through the “Billions, Save them All” Web site http://billions.3dvia.com later this month and the complete game will debut on Facebook within the next few months.
“Billions, Save Them All” tells the story of the Mogaloos, a race of cute little critters near the brink of extinction. You are a Glow Agent, appointed by the National Space Consortium of Animal Rescue to scour the universe and save these cuddly cube-like creatures. Your character must traverse through a fully immersive 3D world to capture as many Mogaloos as possible while avoiding dangerous obstacles and evil creatures trying to stop you.
“Before you play this game, make sure you have some time to spare. The design and gameplay can really catch hold of your imagination,” said Lynne Wilson, CEO, 3DVIA, Dassault Systèmes. “Not only is the game fun and visually appealing, it demonstrates the power of our 3D authoring technology to a whole new market. We are excited to see how the community will react to the game project.”
3DVIA Studio is a new 3D development platform for quickly creating breathtaking online games, simulations and visualizations. The 3DVIA Studio offering combines the power of social media with content creation apps and reusable 3D assets to simplify the 3D content creation process. To put the new platform to the test, 3DVIA teamed up with long-time partners ZOINK Games and JUDIVA to build an engaging, creative and unique game in an amazingly short amount of time.
"It has been so much fun creating the ‘Billions’ game,” said Klaus Lyngeled, creative director, ZOINK Games. “Working with 3DVIA Studio has been a breeze. It allowed us to concentrate on creativity and not get stuck in the technology jungle of bad 3D engines."
"Six weeks of learning the product while coding the game at the same time! Honestly, I do not believe that I have had so much fun in quite a while. I am impressed with what 3DVIA Studio delivers, and the most exciting part is that we've only scratched the surface of its potential," said François Dujardin, founder of JUDVIA.
“Billions, Save Them All” and 3DVIA Studio will be showcased at the 2010 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, March 11-13 in 3DVIA’s booth (#1432).
