Dassault Systemes Teams With 3Dconnexion to Optimize 3D Access across 3D PLM Applications

Integrated 3D PLM User Interface to Improve Productivity

Suresnes (France) - March 29, 2002 – Dassault Systemes (NASDAQ: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) and 3Dconnexion, a Logitech company, (NASDAQ: LOGIY) (Switzerland: LOGN, LOGZ) announced today that they have signed a Technology Development Agreement. As long-time Dassault Systemes technology partner, 3Dconnexion will work closely with Dassault Systemes to develop a broader use of 3D motion controllers and peripherals, and improve integration with 3D PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) applicative environment. By investing in on-site development, the two companies will consolidate their technological cooperation.

Well-known within the manufacturing industry, 3Dconnexion’s peripherals help PLM users to intuitively manipulate 3D models by providing true physical 3D control. Dassault Systemes’ V5 open architecture, the foundation of CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA, natively supports 3Dconnexion technology. This technological partnership will enable designers to extend their current use of SpaceMouse & SpaceBall 3D devices far beyond simple manipulations such as navigation, zooming and rotation within 3D PLM applications. Increased intuitiveness and ergonomics will further benefit the user community.

Dassault Systemes is the premier global 3D PLM solutions provider. 3D PLM enables customers to optimize their business Processes for Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance & Support, using Collaborative Workspaces to share a common product, process and resource model (PPR). With PPR, companies can capture, share and reuse Knowledge all along the Product lifecycle. The open CAA V5 (Component Application Architecture) allows extension and integration of this solution within multiple enterprise environments.

“3D is at the core of everything we do, from concept to production and maintenance. To this end, 3Dconnexion plays a key role in making 3D easy and productive. Our technological partnership will extend integration of 3Dconnexion within the V5 architecture. It will bring a new level of 3D immersion to the user, in an intuitive manner,” said Bruno Latchague, Executive Vice President, Research & Development, Dassault Systemes.

"I am excited about the opportunity to fully integrate the capability of our devices into CATIA, DELMIA and ENOVIA for the benefit of our customers. The cooperation benefits for the PLM engineer will be tremendous,”
