Key Event During 2008 North American International Auto Show Focuses on Design for Fun

Auburn Hills, Mich., January 15, 2008  Dassault Systèmes (DS) (NASDAQ: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), announced today that it is sponsoring the 15th annual AutoWeek Design Forum. The event is being held at Cobo Center on Wednesday, January 16, 2008.

Each year the AutoWeek Design Forum brings together industry experts to celebrate automotive design and takes a look at what the future holds. This year’s theme is “Designed for Fun,” and speakers from leading automotive OEMs take the stage, joined by keynote speaker, Jesse James, owner of West Coast Choppers and host of the Discovery Channel’s “Monster Garage.”

“Dassault Systèmes is pleased to support this annual event.  It speaks to our mission for the automotive industry,” said Anne Asensio, vice president for design experience, Dassault Systèmes. “Our primary design solutions – CATIA and ICEM – make a designer’s job easier and more fun by providing the necessary software to unleash their creative ideas and help to make them a reality.”

CATIA is a mainstay of the auto design community, allowing quick adaptation of an existing design to create additional vehicles on the same platform. This capability, among numerous other CATIA functions, is critical in making gains in the overall product development process and helps drive down cost, as well as improve quality.

In 2007, DS acquired ICEM, the leading worldwide developer of advanced surface modeling, design and visualization software. ICEM is a critical design component at many of the world’s leading automotive, aerospace, sporting goods and consumer durable products manufacturers and their suppliers.

“Automotive designers find inspiration and styling cues from other industries, such as aerospace, luxury goods, fashion, furniture and architectural design,” Asensio notes. “Dassault Systèmes has a long history of supporting these industries, bringing together design, engineering and manufacturing in a cohesive manner through PLM.”
