Dassault Systèmes Showcases Virtual Reality Capabilities at International Conference

Paris, France – April 5, 2007 – Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced its presence at Laval Virtual, the 9^th International Conference on Virtual Reality (VR), where it will be showcasing its Virtools 3D real-time solutions, also used by a large majority of the exhibitors.  Laval Virtual will be held on April 18-22 in, at Le Théâtre de Hercé.  The Virtools technology will be demonstrated at booth E3.  As part of the conference DS’s R&D Director, “3D For All”, Arnaud Ribadeau Dumas will participate in a roundtable discussion entitled, “Virtuality: a real innovation” on Friday, April 30 at 11 am.

“We are entering a new era where Virtual Reality will be increasingly present in our daily lives: the Wii console is a great example. Offering multi-sensorial 3D experiences and a versatile VR deployment solution, Virtools technology is a key player in the democratization of VR with new applications being discovered all the time. A perfect illustration is the Great Pyramid cultural heritage/construction application, which was showcased with Virtools 3D real-time solutions at La Geode,” explains Ribadeau Dumas. At the conference DS will present its Great Pyramid experience inspired from the March 30 world premiere.

Laval Virtual is a European crossroads for technologies linked to simulation and VR and features numerous DS partners: multimedia studios, hardware and software resellers, research centers. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a wide range of virtual environments developed using Virtools’ 3D real-time solutions (including applications in the SAS Cube, the first French CAVE).  To promote the democratisation of VR, DS is actively supporting the Laval Virtual Student Competition, by providing students with its powerful Virtools solution to unleash their creativity and rewarding winners with Virtools software licenses.

Virtools and VR are critical to Dassault Systèmes’ “3D For All” strategy, which is designed to benefit the general public’s daily lives with realistic interactive 3D experiences.  DS, always ahead of the times regarding 3D and its usage, is already using it in applications such as urban planning, science, research, education, cultural heritage and more.
