Dassault Systemes enhances software development for ENOVIA DMU Navigator on Intel® Itanium™ Processor-Based Systems
Anaheim (California, USA) and Suresnes (France) April 3, 2001 – Dassault Systèmes (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) announces today that it now supports the ENOVIA DMU Navigator, part of the ENOVIA Portal Solutions on next-generation Intel® Itanium™ Processor-Based Systemes. With this latest advent, Dassault Systèmes has moved into the new technology age of the Intel Itanium Architecture with its advanced and innovative features adapted to e-Business and technical computing. This software development of the ENOVIA DMU Navigator will procure a significant improvement in the already numerous capacities of Dassault Systèmes’ Digital Mock Up Solutions thanks to the benefits derived from next-generation Intel Architecture.
In recent years, manufacturers have come to demand more and more from their workstation platforms, expecting them to design and analyze increasingly complex models. By harnessing features of the Intel Itanium processor family such as 64-bit addressability, leading floating point performance, and specific math operations capabilities, the ENOVIA DMU Navigator will now allow designers to manipulate digital models with a significant gain in fluidity and performance.
Since the signature in November 1998 of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Intel and Dassault Systèmes, CATIA customers have been able to take advantage of Intel Architecture through 32-bit platforms. With the inclusion of aspects of the Intel® Itanium™ processor-based systems in the ENOVIA DMU Navigator, Dassault Systemes and Intel now offer the manufacturing industry the combined efforts of their expertise in leading-edge technologies.
"The Intel Itanium processor's floating point performance, 64-bit addressability, large cache memory and high bandwidth bus are well suited to the highperformance workstations used in mechanical design automation says Sharad Gandhi, Intel's Director, Internet Solutions Group, EMEA. "Dassault Systèmes's ENOVIA DMU Navigator product will benefit from the enhanced reliability, leading security performance, higher application performance and scalability delivered by the by the Intel Itanium processor.”

"As part of our V5 product Portfolio, the ENOVIA DMU Navigator offers a wide range of tools to enable all actors of the extended enterprise to view, analyse and collaborate around 3D data all along the product lifecycle. Maximizing the advantages of Intel Itanium Processor-based Systems, our V5 architecture will provide customers with optimal performances when using our 64 bits-enabled CATIA, DELMIA and ENOVIA products", said Bruno Latchague, Executive Vice-President of Research and Development at Dassault Systemes. "The ENOVIA DMU Navigator will be able to handle capacity requirements of large, complex digital mock-ups effectively and rapidly. In doing so, it will lend unquestionable value to the 3D virtual product at the core of our Product Lifecycle Management Solutions."
