Dassault Systèmes’ DELMIA Key Focus for Warwick Degree in Digital Manufacturing Management
Auburn Hills, MI., USA, and Warwick, UK, March 13, 2007 - Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that its DELMIA software is to be used by top United Kingdom University, Warwick. The Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), part of the university’s engineering faculty, is poised to employ Dassault Systèmes as a key system in the delivery of its research and teaching. DELMIA technology will be essential to the delivery of courses offered by WMG, which is renowned worldwide and recognized for its automotive engineering research.
“We have close connections to industry. Our courses represent or anticipate the spirit of the time. Ten years ago, we devised a masters’ level ‘IT for Manufacture’ course. Now we have developed our MSc in Digital Manufacturing Management. The courses will be offered from the Warwick Digital Laboratory, allowing close collaborative research, courses, and wider knowledge transfer with a range of industrial partners and students. Having used DELMIA in past industrial projects and with broad experience of DS’s PLM manufacturing hub, deploying DS’s software across all our courses made perfect sense,” explains Neil Davis, principal teaching fellow at WMG. High-profile courses demand a leading integrated tool set that enable them to demonstrate the concepts and capabilities of digital manufacturing to their students.
“We are honored that such a prestigious institution will be using our software to demonstrate the principles of fully integrated digital manufacturing. These students will join varied industrial sectors once their academic education is at an end and will be able to act as evangelists for PLM around the world – a truly exciting prospect,” comments Simon Allsop, UK country manager, DELMIA, Dassault Systèmes. WMG will have ten academic staff involved in delivering the new courses and, in addition, they are planning to become involved in the support of manufacturing companies as they embrace digital manufacturing in the future.
