Dassault Systemes and Océ announce a CAA V5 Development Partnership Agreement
Paris (France), January 9, 2001 – Océ Technologies BV (Nasdaq: OCENY, Amsterdam Exchanges) and Dassault Systemes (Nasdaq: DASTY, Bourse de Paris) announced today the signing of a Component Application Architecture (CAA) V5 development partnership. The purpose of this agreement is the integration of Océ printing applications in the CATIA V5 environment. This will enable the integration of customers’ critical processes - from design up to printing and plotting - into a single environment.<br/>
Manufacturing and engineering companies worldwide focus on cost-effective management of their printing processes on an enterprise-wide basis. Today’s market demands effective and centralized control of output devices of all different types, wherever they are located in the organization.<br/>
Amongst a wide range of functionalities, CATIA V5 offers standard printing possibilities on UNIX and NT environments. Most of the current graphic standards for printing are natively supported within CATIA V5, whose printing capabilities have been validated for major plotters and printers.<br/>
Via this CAA V5 development partnership, Dassault Systemes and Océ give CATIA V5 users comprehensive and seamless access to all available document printing and distribution resources, regardless of the device types and where they are located. This saves time and cost, and promotes efficient, enterprise-wide information sharing within the organisation. Maximum return on investment is ensured by enabling use to be made of all the available printing functionalities throughout the enterprise.<br/>
Océ Print Exec On CAA V5™ ensures simple, transparent operation. Users have direct, seamless access to the advanced print management functions from within the CATIA V5 environment. These include selecting, defining and previewing their print jobs and managing all the output parameters, whatever the selected output device is. <br/>
Integrating accounting functions, Océ Print Exec On CAA V5™ provides full visibility of all printing-related costs, assigned to users, departments or projects according to their exact usage. With this capability, companies will optimise their printing cost control, which used to be quite unclear. <br/>
“This development partnership with Dassault Systemes will enable us to take a significant step forward in bringing the benefits of our printing and document solutions to the CATIA users community worldwide”, said Michel Frequin, Executive Director of Océ’s Strategic Business Unit Wide Format Printing Systems. “This will allow users to better manage their CATIA V5 printing environment and leverage all their printing assets on an enterprise-wide basis. At the same time it implements our strategy of offering users maximum support for their key business processes through the application of our engineering systems and software solutions.”

“Océ has joined our CAA V5 community, extending the CATIA V5 printing and document management capabilities”, said Bruno Latchague, Executive VP R&D of Dassault Systems. “The tight integration of Océ’s recognized technologies in the CATIA V5 environment is highly beneficial to our common customers, who consider the printing and document management process as essential within their organization. Through this CAA V5 development partnership, the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategy of Dassault Systemes will benefit from the extensive experience of Océ in this field, allowing CATIA users to benefit from a comprehensive and innovative product portfolio.”
