CANADIAN SPACE AGENCY SELECTS SAFEWORK INC. FOR MAJOR VIRTUAL REALITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Safework Inc. a subsidiary of Genicom Consultants Inc. ("Safework") has received a contract to develop a sophisticated Virtual Reality ("VR") Module which will include interfaces with various VR peripherals including motion capture systems, data gloves and VR helmets. Safework was selected after hundreds of applicants were reviewed by the Space Agency for this very prestigious project.

MONTREAL, January 8, 1997--As part of this contract, Safework will interface with Coryphaeus Inc.'s Designer Work Bench TM (CAD system) and Easy-SceneTM (VR simulation environment). This is a multi-phase project with Phase I to be completed in March 1998.

The resulting solution will enable the Space Agency to represent astronauts accurately in a VR environment using the well known Canada Space Arm and working in the International Space Station. This integrated solution will provide for an advanced VR environment for international astronaut training and will be used by Japanese, American, Russian and Canadian astronauts.

Safework mannequins are well known for their accuracy in representing virtual human beings in various environments. The Safework system has 103 anthropometric variables and 148 degrees of freedom. Other key features include: fully articulated spine and hand models, direct and inverse kinematics, multi-variate and boundary mannequin approaches, vision module, collision detection, animation and postural analysis.
